Our founder, L.L., first introduced genuine handsewn mocs 100 years ago in 1926. We've made some improvements, but the custom-made feel is still apparent in each shoe sewn today, offering premium comfort and style from the backyard to the boardwalk and more.

Sizing Confusion Demystified
Reviews of Bean's handsewn footwear are often overrun with complaints about not being able to find the right size, multiple exchanges, etc. I'm here to sweep away all this tedious confusion with, as they say, "one simple trick." For handsewns (Casco Bay Venetians and boat shoes, Camp Mocs, and Blucher) simply order the same size as your Bean Boots, i.e., follow the sizing advice Bean gives on its Bean Boot page. This will typically be a whole size down from Brannock or tennis shoe size. You're welcome.

Casco Bay Venetians - Great Casual Dressy Shoe
I love the L.L. Bean penny loafers. Unfortunately, they no longer sell them. . I've been wearing them as my dress shoes for years and years. They fit well and are comfortable.
When I wanted a pair of more casual but dressy shoes, I looked at all of the usual shoe store lines and was left unsatisfied. Just to see if L.L. Bean had anything that might work for me, I searched the website. To my surprise the men's Casco Bay Venetians looked like what I wanted. And they are. Like my L.L. Bean penny loafers that L.L. Bean no longer sells, they fit well, look good, and are very comfortable. They are casual dressy not formal.

Excellent shoes
I purchased these as a surprise for my boyfriend to upgrade his shoe collection and he is thrilled. He wears them most of the time and says how comfortable they are and they look great on him. He gets a lot of compliments.
