Too thin.
Not what I expect from a fisherman sweater. You could see the color of the shirt that I was wearing underneath. A fisherman sweater should be thick and chunky.it was sent back

Lovely traditional Irish sweater
This is a gorgeous sweater if you like traditional Irish knits. The wool is soft and thick but not too heavy, and the price is reasonable for this quality. Definitely sized generously, as others have noted. Normally I wear petite sizes but thought I would try it anyway. Unfortunately, the XS swamps my 5'2", 112 lb frame so it's going back. LL Bean, please offer this in petites!

Top quality sweater
This is a beautiful sweater. I have bought several wool fisherman sweaters and they never quite worked out and I always gave them away. This one is a keeper. It does run large. My favorite L.L. Bean sweater is the wicked soft cotton cashmere crewneck sweater. I wear that in a size large because I want it roomie. I initially ordered this sweater in a large and it was huge. The medium fits perfect. I am 5 foot 2, 142 pounds with a big chest.

precisely what I hoped it would be
Seriously, all my long life I have wanted one of these sweaters. I looked in Ireland, Scotland, etc. Scratchy wool, poor fit, and disappointment. Then I saw this and instantly ordered it. I got it today. It fits wonderfully (I bought an L instead of my usual M because I want to wear it over a turtleneck with jeans and wanted it big and long...and it is). The wool is soft and supple; lots of spring in the knit. Gorgeous natural color. Very high quality. I have not worn it here in the subtropics but will soon enough. Thank you Bean!! Second delivery today from Bean and everything is a keeper - yea!
