These are *base layers*
These are wonderful for their intended purpose: to be worn as a base, underneath another layer. They are NOT standalone tops. A close fit is essential for them to perform their given function: to trap the wearer’s body heat. They perform phenomenally for this.
I’m an avid hiker and backpacker and I use these in the winter and also as pjs inside my sleeping bag. They take a long time to smell (backpackers don’t take extras of any clothing, so these are worn daily for weeks at a time), they wash well (machine delicate in a mesh lingerie bag, no dryer; dry flat overnight.

Thin and light; good if worn underneath something
It's a slight layer; I would not wear it by itself (some of this kind of insulating shirt can be worn alone). I use it instead of a silk turtleneck.
I use it under cashmere sweaters, since this can be machine washed and cashmere cannot, for additional warmth and to minimize body sweat and odors from the cashmere. It could also work under a chamois or wool shirt.
If someone wants an insulating layer, I recommend the 250 turtleneck, which is substantial enough to really matter; it can be worn as an insulating layer, or on its own.

Returned It
The shirts were way too snug around the midsection other than that fit rather well. I just did not like the clinginess of the shirt and I am 5 foot three 152 pounds and I ordered the large and it was much too tight for what I like so regretfully, I returned it.

Perfect Ultralight Turtleneck
This ultra thin merino wool layer is amazingly warm and comfortable. I am using it as a base layer at the gym and it is also attractive enough to wear under every day sweaters. Worth the money.
