Our twist on a classic, with authentic cable designs from the Aran Islands. This cotton crewneck fisherman sweater is made from soft-draping cotton yarns that flatter and span the seasons more than traditional wool.
We chose 100% cotton yarns to give our cable sweater year-round appeal. It's lighter with an easier drape than traditional fisherman sweaters, offering supreme comfort and beautiful style.

cotton yarn breaks, frays, and pills
I was very disappointed with my purchase. The cotton yarn used for this sweater frayed, broke, and pilled after one gentle washing and line-drying. I cut off many frayed pieces of yarn after the first wash. I am disappointed, and am hoping LLBean will refund my money for this 2024 purchase. These pics were taken recently after its 2nd wash. The sweater had been gently worn 6 times and washed twice. The navy color is fine, the pics showed it grayed out for some reason. I've been a happy customer since the 1980s, so I hope you can refund my money or give me a store credit. The quality of your clothing is usually top notch.

This is not a fisherman sweater
L.L. Bean ought to be embarrassed to call this a fisherman sweater. It's thinner than their Double L sweaters. It's pretty, but it's barely warm enough for fall, never mind a chunky, heavy knit sweater designed for cold temperatures.

Classic fall sweater
This sweater is a classic calbleknit design and has good attention to detail. It’s not too heavy so is suitable for transitioning between seasons. The r material is comfortable but not too soft- so it helps to have a shirt underneath for comfort. I also found that the sweater stretched a little in places especially on sleeve around my watch. I bought this on sale and it was a good value. I usually wear a size medium but sized down in this.

Beautiful on but uncomfortable
It’s a beautiful sweater and looks good on but feels very scratchy and uncomfortable on my skin. It would be okay with a tee shirt underneath but I wouldn’t wear it alone. Maybe my bad for buying 100% cotton instead of a blend.

Really nice sweater
Glad I purchased this sweater. I bought the mineral red shade. It's actually a deep rose color. And, it's practical for transition weather such as late winter, spring and late autumn because it's heavier but not overly heavy. It's easy to wash in cold water and place over the shower rod. Medium fits me well for my height and weight. 5:4 1/2 and 146 if that helps anyone.

A Classic !
Love this sweater! Nicely tapered so it is not a boxy fit. It is a heavy sweater, but fine for early spring in the mid-south. Bought the navy and it’s a true dark navy. Arms are a bit snug, but not enough to size up. True to size.
