Hot flash tested
My current battle is hot flashes. I love my wide mouth water bottles from another big outdoorsy brand (hint: N*****e), but the plastic bottle doesn’t hold ice as long as the L.L. Bean insulated Bean Canteen Water Bottle. The main opening is wide enough for the crescent shaped ice cubes from my fridge door dispenser. The smaller opening is perfect for drinking and prevents splashing onto my face. The screw cap is tethered to the lid & quickly twists on/off. The tether has a small rubber sleeve over part of it and makes for a convenient/comfortable handle when the cap is closed up. I typically fill it about 10% with ice cubes and then the rest with tap water. Once in the bottle with ice the water chills within a 10-15 minutes and the ice will remain for most of my workday—I can just top off with more water. I filled it in this manner and left it on the counter overnight and it the contents were still article cold—I could even hear solid ice cubes in the morning.

Cap breaks quickly, bottle unusable.
Less than a year of use and the cap broke. Something inside the cap malfunctions and water leaks out if the bottle is not perfectly upright at all times. They don't replace caps or sell them individually, so the entire bottle becomes useless and wasteful.

insulation is great
I have been using this on a trip to Australia in the summer. I filled it with cold water (no ice) in the am, and after 10 hours of walking around in the 80+ degree heat the water was still cold.

It holds water
This bottle is great, I got the 24oz, fits in a cup holder holds more like 26oz. I use it for my coffee and as my everyday water bottle. The chug lid with the rope handle is great!
