Choice of basement or mildew smell
These are really, really great jeans, of which I have purchased many since they became available. Perfect in the waist. The petite length is perfect uncuffed for me at 5'2". No whiskering in the Washed Indigo, and the whiskering on the Light Indigo was hardly visible, which is good. The ones I got last year had a strong basement smell that I got used to after a while and after several washes, the smell is not too bad. I decided I needed more of these so-great jeans. They are selling out on sale so ordered two pair. These two arrived with the same basement smell but now with a strong base note of mildew. No way was I going to wear them or wash them with my other clothes. From the tag inside it looked like these mildew-smelling jeans were made in 2025. Before that, the jeans had no smell or just the tolerable (to me) basement smell. I'm glad I did find a few pair that were okay. Maybe LLBean could clean the remaining stock before offering them for sale. And investigate where they picked up the smell and clean there. I'd recommend them to a friend after saying they take the chance of having to return them if they get a smelly pair. Or maybe if they did, they could experiment with various cleaners and if they find one that works, sell the information to LLBean or post the info on a review for those of us looking for this kind of perfect-fitting, great-looking jeans.

Smell
Like the color. Like the fit. They smell awful. I washed them 3 times and that has not helped. This is extremely disappointing to me as this has not happened with prior llbean purchases.

My new favorite jeans
I just love the cut of these jeans. My everyday jeans have been a slim straight cut, but I'm tired of tight jeans. I love these. They fit through the waist and hips while the legs are comfortably loose. They machine wash and dry well. I'm not a cuffed jeans person so unrolled they are perfect on my 5' 4" frame. I gave away all my old jeans and bought four pair of these. Highly recommend.

Smell
I keep buying these jeans as I lose weight, as the fit is perfect for my body! But the smell is horrific! I don't need a refund, as I like the jeans, but after even 10 washes the smell will linger. Be prepared. If LL Bean can come up with a cleaning method, and resolve the problem for future purchases, that would be great.

Horrible moldy smell
The smell of these jeans is horrible. They smell like they sat in a moldy basement for 10 years. I washed twice, soaked in vinegar, tried fabric softener and nothing helps. If I could give a 0 rating, I would
