Not for me
These looked and sounded like a good pair of shorts for summer, so ordered them in a size 8. Once they came, though, I changed my mind immediately--the pockets were too shallow, the fabric felt too heavy for our hot SC summers, and even though I knew they were 6 inches in length, they were just too short and not at all flattering. The rise was OK, as was the tan color, but that was about it. Returned them.

Sun washed canvas
I have been searching the LLBean site for a couple years. I still have 3 pairs of sunwashed canvas shorts that still look and feel great. Just wanted new colors. Why would you stop making such a great product? Glad I read the reviews. Wondered what happened.

Totally agree with the other reviewers—this is a very poor substitute for the sun washed canvas shorts that you stopped making. While I did not have any issue with the fabric or the color, these are cut shorter on the leg and fit tighter overall. This is the third purchase I made from L.L. Bean in the last four months that I had to return due to fit. You are obviously cutting back on the amount of fabric and overall product quality . Meanwhile, the sun washed canvas shorts that I purchased several years ago, still fit me perfectly and look great.

Poor quality
I have several pairs of these because I'm difficult to fit when it comes to shorts. Each pair develops permanent creases on the left leg band and the stitches develop puckers along the seam lines. The light was too try and fix this is too use a heavy steam iron and starch.

Not my best purchase. The material is ok, but the waistband is way too bulky. That's all I'm going to say. You guys have changed the design of the canvas shorts and pants.....and you really shouldn't have. You had a good thing with what you HAD, but discarded for some unknown reason.

Poor quality
The shorts are well made but the hems are a disaster. They wrinkle badly and are uncomfortable to sit on. I’ve line dried them and machine dried them, it doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t have to iron shorts. The designer needs to put a shirttail hem in these. The wrinkles don’t iron out. Won’t buy again.
