Rated 5 out of 5 by from Washable Wool Blanket We needed to replace an older wool blanket and ordered the Washable Wool Herringbone King sized blanket. This blanket is very soft and the color and texture fits nice with our brown toned bed. We haven't had it long enough to try to wash it, but being washable is one of the reasons we selected it. So far it is great and would recommend it for anyone needing a similar blanket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blanket We wanted a warm blanket we could put under a down comforter (in case the down got too hot) that was made of natural fibers, warm but not too heavy, and could be washed and dried. This is a beautiful, high quality blanket, though I agree with others that it does shrink a little (I'm glad it doesn't come too far down the sides of our regular king bed the way my Bean flannel sheets do, but I have to really pull it down at the end of the bed if I want to tuck it in). I wash it using the Laundress's wool and cashmere detergent (please note, Woolite is actually not a good detergent--it doesn't rinse clean). And it's the perfect weight to wash--even the king fits easily in our GE stackable washer (which is a regular size, but not like a front loader). I do put it in the dryer on low (hard to line dry a king-sized blanket). I wash it maybe every 4-5 months to remove dust/mites and it seems to be doing well. I will say that it's not impervious to cat nails--we do have a couple of pulls (but they don't seem to be running). It's under the down blanket, but often the down gets a little hot and so some wool blanket gets exposed. I will say that it's not a soft wool, but it's also not itchy (you won't feel it above a sheet anyway). And it's not a heavy weight blanket, but that's actually what we wanted. It's perfect for cool summer nights/when the down is too much, and as mentioned, it fits easily in my washer, which is what we really needed. Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Six years later…. I was just flipping through a new LLB catalog that came in the mail and saw our LLB Washable Wool Blanket still available. I just thought I’d re-review this blanket that we are still using (in the winter months) here in Colorado. The blanket still looks pristine! Thought I’d add a few care notes for those reading the reviews with questions. First, it’s a “wool,” blanket and it is not a soft and fuzzy blanket. As I stated in my review in 2019, this is why we ‘sandwich,’ the blanket between two sheets (lots of hotels do this too!). We also do this to accommodate our two Shelties who we love dearly but refuse to have to clean the dog hair off of the blanket. It’s much easier to take a tape runner to the top sheet to clear off any dog confetti. Second, DO NOT just throw this blanket in the washer with regular detergent and the put it in the dryer!! At the end of the season, shake it outside on a nice day, put it in the washer on a cold water setting and use Woolite detergent. Then take it out of the washer and hang it to dry over a shower rod, flipping it after 6-8 hours until it’s dry. If it’s nice outside, let it air dry outside out of direct sunlight. Fold up the blanket and put it away till the next season. Ours looks great after six years. It did shrink a small amount the very first time it was washed and this was frustrating but we still can make the blanket fit on our king mattress by not keeping the blanket too high up on the top. We keep just enough blanket down to keep it tucked in at the base. This is a QUALITY blanket that needs a bit more care than a throw that you throw over a chair or the sofa in your family room, but it is worth the care!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful, Washable Wool Blanket Wool blankets made by Pendleton are the best! I have used them for many years. They last a long time and are washable. I needed a twin size and the gray herringbone was a very attractive choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautful wool blanket Blanket is lovely. I selected it because it was washable and because of the quality I would expect from LL Bean. The blanket is nice, its not soft but it is not irritating. I think it will soften with time as most natural fibers do. It is not very warm, certainly not as warm as other wool blankets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Quality! This is an absolutely beautiful and superb quality blanket in a lovely herringbone pattern. It's the perfect size to drape a little over the edges of the bed as well as tuck in at the bottom, allowing extra warmth. The wool itself is very soft and supple without being heavy or bulky. I layer this blanket underneath an LL Bean down comforter with one or two of the smaller plaid Pendleton washable wool throws (also from LL Bean over the years) on top depending on the temperature and number of dogs in bed with me. I value quality natural fibers, ease of cleaning and a classic/ timeless aesthetic. This one certainly ticks all the boxes. Thanks, LL Bean!
