We created this special crossbody bag in celebration of our iconic tote. Handcrafted in Brunswick, Maine, one tote at a time. From the heavyweight canvas to the reinforced handles to the double-stitched seams, nothing compares to our American-made Boat and Tote.
Since 1944, we've been making our iconic Boat and Tote in Maine. The same way. Our only way. First introduced as "Bean's Ice Carrier," it's proudly stitched by a dedicated team from high-quality American cotton canvas, with a reinforced canvas bottom and rugged overlapped seams. When it's finished, you'll be able to tell it's an L.L.Bean original by the signature "V-point" detail on both sides. We make your tote one at a time here in Brunswick, Maine. Then it's your turn to make it your own.

One Missing Detail
I think this tote is perfect with the exception of one detail. It doesn’t have an outside pocket for a cell phone. With that missing, your phone slips to the bottom of the bag. Inside there is a zipped pocket but it doesn’t work for a cell phone. In today’s world with cell phones so much a part of your existence, I think it would have been an easy task to include a much needed pocket on the outside of the bag. C’mon LLBean, get with the times.
