Outstanding comforter; good value; well made.
Frequent backwoods hiker, car camper, and 4-season traveler here. Purchased this after returning from a winter trip to the north of Scotland, where we routinely slept under very comfortable and very warm lighter-weight down comforters in various hotels and rentals. We have now been living with this comforter for three months in the Southern U.S., where our weather this season has been unhappily anomalously cold. With overnight lows in the upper teens and low 20s, and our sleep-time thermostat set at 65, this comforter has kept us very warm. It is generously proportioned, the fabric is quiet and soft, and it has an elegant, smooth finish (like a fine, high thread-count top sheet). It appears to be solidly constructed, but it's too soon to comment on durability. As a value, this is an outstanding comforter -- its weight is comparable to that of a well-constructed, HQ 40/45-degree car-camping sleeping bag. A cautionary note: Unless you are a cold sleeper, it may be overkill to use this comforter on top of a good-quality decorative comforter. At night we pull this comforter up over our reasonably-warm cotton decorative comforter, and within a couple of hours, my wife -- who is a warm sleeper -- pushes the down comforter away because things become a bit too toasty for her. Which is not a negative, the down comforter is just doing its job. But if you're already a warm sleeper, you might want to explore a lighter-weight, down-alternative option. Otherwise, this is a superb comforter. Recommended.

Outstanding down comforter!
This reminds me of quality of LLBean from the past--and not like the inferior cotton comforter in several important ways. It has a crisp, cool percale feel (my understanding is that the weave is cambric which is similar to percale). It is double stitched on the hem ( not single stitch like the cotton--see my review of that one for additional info). It has a perfect fluff. (I made sure to wash with down friendly detergent and used dryer balls on low dry setting for over two hours to dry completely). Warmth is perfect, and it is very cold here in Fargo . It does not have corners for duvet but is more comfortable as a result, and it will be so much simpler to wash and dry than use of duvet covers which I find slip around over the duvet--even with ties. I have always found the uncovered duvet/comforter more comfortable than the covered one, and the light blue is beautiful ( I would also purchase one in white or faded rose if those colors were available)

Where's the down?
For almost $400, we expected "600 fill down" to feel like 600, not 60. Where is the fluff factor? Expect more from LL Bean.

Wonderful Down Comforter
This comforter is so wonderful. It is light, warm and comfortable. I had a previous one that lasted for over 20 years. The cover on the new one is not quite as durable as the old one. I had to place something over it in an area where the cat jumps up on it because it made nail holes. I would ordinarily not spend that much on bedding, but it really is money well spent. I've learned that spending less on something and then not liking it and replacing is just as expensive. Don't hesitate if you're on the fence about it.
