I would trust my life to this coat
I've owned this for 4 years and while I've never needed it to save my life, I have no doubt that it could. It keeps me warm with light activity, even when the air temp is around 0F with moderate or fresh winds. I don't recommend this for cardio-heavy winter activites, like snowshoeing or xcountry skiing. But if you get too hot, you can always remove or swap out the down liner!
The Gore-tex shell is great when precipitation is variable. I love all the outside pockets for storing neck warmers, balaclavas, hats /layers, water or snacks. Internal pockets will keep electronics from freezing & maintain their performance.
The fit is generous & leaves room for movement. This definitely isn't a fashion piece.

Performs as Expected
The coat was a holiday present for my boyfriend who is 6' tall and weighs 210 lbs. The sizing is a good fit for a male who wears other LL Bean tall sizes. It is warmer than any previous coats and quickly became his favorite. It's worth the investment.

Great 3-1 Parka!
I loved that it has a lot of pockets and add ons. Also, the 3-1 feature is great, on top of that the isulated jacket is really comfty. It fits just a little bit larger than I expected but it's ok.

Exceeds my expectations!
I've wanted this jacket for years, but it was always sold out in my size when I waited for the holiday sale, so this year I jumped online early and scored. The jacket is exactly what I was hoping it would be, warm without feeling bulky, even while driving. Seems very well built and the waterproof outside layer feels durable, so I expect it will last many years. We've had an unusually warm winter so far, so the coldest test I've given it was only in the upper teens. That being said, it kept me warm and toasty, even with a t-shirt underneath. I'm 5'8" and the medium was a perfect fit. The hand pockets could be perhaps an inch higher, but that's the closest I can come to recommending an improvement.

Had to end up returning
Loved all the features of the coat. The liner fit perfectly but the coat overall was way oversized. Had a very baggy fit and I ended up returning it. The outer layer jacket itself is sized way too big in size M. And everything else in size M fits me perfectly. I like the zippers but agree with other reviews that they felt a little tough to use overall. The sizing was just weird.

A fabulous coat
This coat is really warm, comfortable, and very practical. It has many pockets and options for zipping the coat to control the degree of warmth that you need. The fabric is very durable and the coat is really well-made. I highly recommend the coat.
