Rated 5 out of 5 by from Man's second best friend after his dog! I have had my field coat with the wool/nylon liner for at least twenty-one years and I absolutely love it! I wore this coat to the stable for 13 years and wore it while I was tacking up our horse. I also use it while doing yard and work in the garage, hiking and camping. The canvas exterior has held up remarkably with only a little fading. The corduroy trim has faded a lot but, for the age, that's no surprise. One of the front buttons fell-off and the replacement button broke in half before I could use it...a minor thing considering the big picture. It is also roomy enough to wear a medium weight sweater under the coat for extra warmth. The lining is warm and has a classic look and feel. I just feel great every time I wear it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Field Coat Replacement My wife finally convinced me to replace my favorite field coat after many, many (too many) years of service. Old one is tattered and worn around the corduroy collar and sleeves, but kinda looks as old as I am. New one looks great and seems to be of the same high quality as the old one. The only disappointment is the liner does not have thinsulate throughout the back as the old one has. That extra warmth factor is something I would pay extra for but for some reason has now been designed out. I can, however, use the liner from the old coat as it is still in great shape and buttons in exactly the same. I've had no issues with the buttons as some others have commented on. I'll see how they hold up but I think a little preventative reinforcement is a good idea. Love this coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A time honored coat that goes with anything My last barn coat was show its age about 30 years. I wanted a new warmer replacement as I age so turned to LL Bean for the comfort, look, and warm coat to last me another 20 or 30 years. I will probably not out last this great coat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Coat. Used to be great. This is my 4th one of these since I bought my 1st one in the ‘90s. Outer shell is still sufficient. Wool liner used to have complete thinsulate lining instead of just sleeves. (My old liner is on its third shell). 2 buttons came off in 1st week, but I sewed them back on. This coat is all I wear in the winter. I wish LL Bean respected it as much as I do and leaned in to maintain its quality.
