Pilling is Awful
I wished I had read all the reviews before I purchased this sweater. Although it is beautiful and very flattering to wear it washes terrible. It pills so badly that it was all over my other clothes and sheds everywhere. I made sure to follow the care instructions but it didn't seem to make any difference. This is not the usual quality of product I get from LL Bean which is surprising. I had hoped after washing multiple times it would get better, but it doesn't and now the sweater looks bad so I don't really want to wear it anymore.

shreds balls like a cheap brand
I bought this for my mom who is always cold for Christmas...it is priced like an LL Bean product, but man...it is more like something you get at a low priced department store...My mom loved it...it looked lovely...it was warm and soft...but after the first wear it started to ball up

Soft and comfortable, but the pilling
This sweater is very warm on a cold day. The ribbed sleeves provide textural interest. However, the amount of pills after one day is too much. That is my sole reason for deducting stars.

Extreme Fabric Pilling within an Hour of Wearing
Bought this sweater as a Christmas gift for my sister in size large; she bought the exact same for me in my size (1X). Within 30 ish minutes of me wearing the sweater the first time it started to pill--not just a little, but quite a lot. The color, fit, and quality are otherwise perfect--but the balls of fabric were everywhere!
I had not brushed up against a rough surface or anything but with my arms at my side I had pills on both sleeves and on the base of the sweater. Not really sure how there were pills on the front of the sweater, also.
Perhaps worth LL Bean taking a look at another option or weave as it is otherwise a nice sweater--definitely love the color!

I love the design go this sweater but unfortunately the material pills badly. I wish LL Bean would continue this style but using a different thread.

best neck fit
Bought two (so far). the ribbed neck fits comfortably without splaying like most turtles. Love the length and ribbed arms. Love receiving compliments on these sweaters. Last year bought a pale raspberry & lavender. Want in blue that ran out last time.
