Fast Fashion Garbage
Not only are these the worst pants I have ever bought from L. L. Bean, they are one of the worst garments I have ever bought. I regret my purchase.
I bought these pants in March 2026 for an extended period of travel, a yearlong trip around the world. I was looking for a versatile pair of pants that I could hike in or wear out to dinner.
When they first arrived, I liked the fit and the design. What I didn’t realize is that the fabric is low quality.
Within about 30 days of wear, there was pilling on the fabric. By about 40 days of wear, the pilling on the right front pocket was so noticeable that other people commented on it. This is not damage from washing. In that time, I washed these pants twice, one by hand and once in a machine. Air dry both times.
I have been a loyal customer of Bean’s all my life. I have a pair of Bean jeans that I have worn for a decade. I have Bean boots that I have worn for 20 years. I have multiple Bean shirts that I have worn for more than 30 years. These pants are not that same level of quality.
The description on the website touts “unbeatable comfort and durability.” These pants are comfortable, but they are not durable. It makes me sad that a company like Bean, which used to make good quality products at a good price and stand behind them, would sell disposable pants like these. I gave them away.

Great fit but fabric will pill
Great lightweight, versatile pants for indoors and out. They fit well and are comfortable. Loved them through the first few washes, but then the fabric began to pill. Still like the pants, their durability, and fit, but the fabric is lumpy with the pilling and they just aren't the same pants. Denim famously gets softer and more comfortable over time, but not these.
