Disappointed in Quality
My only issue with this jacket was the zipper and Velcro flap. From the first time I tried to unzip to try it on, I found the plastic zipper was a bit stuck and difficult to unzip. I thought it might be easier once I put it on. Nope. It was a pain to line up the zipper. The Velcro on the flap got in the way when I tried to zip down. I knew this would annoy me every time I put the jacket on and off. Also afraid of Velcro snagging on sweaters. For a $400 jacket, I expected better hardware. I would expect snaps instead of Velcro and at least a metal zipper pull even if the teeth were plastic. I have a $200 Columbia jacket with better hardware (it’s heavy and bulky which is why I was upgrading). Otherwise the jacket fit well. 40yo size small 5’9” 140lbs 32/28/39. It was lightweight, and not bulky. Sleeves were long enough and had a nice shape over waist and hips. As a lifelong New Englander, it’s a bummer to see low quality from this iconic brand. Returning it and will look for a different brand.

Follow up Review - This is a fantastic coat!
I circled back to this page when I saw the white coat on sale and plan to purchase it in a size large as I have been working out and lost weight. I'm willing to risk spilling coffee on it now that I know the coat washes and dries well. No problems or issues!
I wrote a review in December 2025 before the northeast experienced two, large snowfalls and 10 degree weather for over a month. I was so grateful to have this coat and wore it every day. First, it is extremely light. Second, the green is really nice when it reflects the sun. I'm happy with the color. Third, the zipper only catches the fabric at the start when my pockets are too full, and the Velcro works well. Either you like Velcro or you don't. The most important feature is that in 10 degree Fahrenheit weather, I was toasty warm!! I had to shovel a lot of snow and was quite literally drenched when I finished. The coat kept me warm and safe. I felt confident that if I was stuck outside for any length of time (from an accident, car failure, waiting for the bus, etc.) that I would not freeze. Thank you L.L.Bean for a wonderful product of very high quality! Keep up the good work. I appreciate you!

would love in below knee length please
Love the concept but i have not bought and unlikely to, as i'm looking for a warm raincoat that will cover my knees, which is a prime spot that gets pummeled in rain. Also, snaps are a must, as i rarely bother with zipping and unzipping. I always skip the down coats that have only a zipper (what's the point?). Please do this one in a normal raincoat length. Kind of surprised LLBean does not have something long for rain. Oh, and what's with the outrageous price???

I bought this a month ago. I like it. It doesn’t replace my favorite LLbean jacket that I’ve had for almost 10 years! Quality isn’t the same. Zipper gets caught on the fabric. For the price (which was more expensive than the tag it came with) I wouldn’t buy again.

Need to pay attention to details
It is light weight but I find that it is not as comfortable as my down coat that I have loved ( it is not LLBean) also I have trouble getting the zipper unzipped. The strips of Velcro are not good at staying closed if not zipped and also are bad to stick to sweaters. I wish they had used snaps along with a zipper. This coat was expensive so I would have liked more thought into details like Velcro and zipper that is hard to unzip. I had read this problem from other’s reviews. I hope they make changes or this may be my last coat , it is waterproof which is nice and fits true to size.
