Our premium upland hunting coat features the exceptional durability of waxed-cotton with classic styling. It's highly water resistant and will gain an attractive patina as it ages.
There's nothing like the classic ruggedness of waxed cotton. The only drawback is the time-consuming process of cleaning by hand after you've had it in the field a few times. We worked with the originator of waxed cotton, British Millerain, to develop this innovative fabric that eliminates all cleaning fuss. Just throw it in the wash like any other piece of clothing. It'll come out looking just as good and with all of its durability and water resistance 100% intact.

Runs big, not same color
We really liked the look of this jacket but it runs very large. It’s also not the same color as the picture which is disappointing. We returned and are going to look at other brands.

Waxed cotton Upland Coat
I recently was with a friend who had a waxed cotton jacket. I was intrigued by the look and feel as well as the fact that he said it was water resistant and windproof.. I spent a month perusing the net looking for a wax cotton coat that would get me through the fall and spring, as well as the better part of the winter here in midcoast Maine. I was pleased to see that L.L. Bean carries a good looking, well designed wax cotton coat.
I should mention that I have lived in Maine for over 50 years and have definitely shopped at L.L. Bean quite a bit… so I have faith in their products. The price was quite reasonable and it was just what I wanted.. I’ve had it now for about a month.. as expected it is really well-made ,well designed and fit as expected. I am five 10/1/2 , 165 pounds, Slim build .. the medium fit great with room for a turtleneck and a wool vest for those really cold days… I’ve been out this December..many times, the temperatures were often in the mid teens with a 20 knot wind. I was not cold. The vest jacket combination was real warm. There are many pockets. The zippers are really strong The collar is soft on the neck when up. There is even a game pocket where you could slip in a couple of ducks. I don’t hunt. But maybe I’ll put a camera lens in there.

Solid jacket
So far I really like this jacket it fits well at 5'11" and 175lb 40"chest I find it hard to find good fitting jackets. I have a filson waxed canvas that is stiff as a board and rides up in the armpits. The 100% cotton liner is kind of hard to put on and take off but natural is better then synthetic. Not the warmest jacket but good in moist conditions with wool flannel or sweater. Hoping it will last me for years to come.

Excellent deer hunting coat
So far I am really enjoying wearing this coat in the deer woods. It is the perfect outer layer blocking wind and light moisture. A layer of Bean wool sweater, wool shirt and one piece long John's has kept me warm in 30° days

Great jacket seems a little undersized.
The jacket is a good jacket that will last me for years like the LL bean jacket that my wife gave me years ago. I like the look of the jacket and pockets. The only concern is the size, it seems a bit small, I usually wear large so got the X-large to have room for a sweater underneath. This jacket fills like a large not an X-large with room underneath. Still it is a good jacket that I will use for years.

Excellent Coat Better than Barbour
I had a green LLBean waxed jacket from the late 90s and I loved it. I took the chance and bought this one in a small, as this was the size of the original one. Fortunately, LLBean did not change the sizing and it fits amazingly well and the sleeves are perfect, also. Very well made with nice touches, some not seen on my Barbour waxed coat.

A great jacket for cool/cold/damp climates...
Purchased jacket a few weeks ago and love the fit and warmth of the jacket. I just returned from a 30 minute walk in the rain and the jacket kept me dry and warm. Very happy with fit and the style. Positive comments from my wife and friends as well.
