The original fisherman's sweaters of the Aran Islands were knit with designs that told stories of a rich coastal heritage. From good luck to a plentiful catch, special sentiments were represented in each and every stitch. Yellow Cast
I LOVED the weight, knit, weave and design but the LL Bean color "beige" is a yellow cast and is unattractive to my complexion. Hated to send back but it will never look good on me. When I saw it online it looked much whiter than it really is. Sad.

Material is really rough
I loved the style and color of this sweater, but it feels like it was woven with rope. It's really rough and I wasn't going to take the chance to see if it'd soften up after a wash. Hoping to find a similar, softer sweater soon.

This beige/tan doesn’t look good with black pants
Catalog & web photo colors of this look lighter than it is. This looks good with all beige/tan/medium & dark browns. It’s “tan” enough to not look very good with black pants which is what I mostly wear. The cotton yarns used to construct it are very thick. I also got this sweater in Women's Signature Cotton Fisherman Sweater, the fair isle dog design in a color Bean calls River Rock. I’m uploading a photo so you can seen the sweater colors side by side. The background is a Bean cotton throw I got years ago. I was hoping this sweater would be closer to the color of my throw. That color would go with browns & blacks. I’m returning this one. I’ve found a website where I can order an Aran pullover from Ireland in merino wool in the color I want for the same $ as this one. The PXL fits as expected. I’m 5’4”, 40D with 16.5” across my shoulders. There’s plenty of room to wear a shirt or turtleneck under this sweater. I order petite for sleeve and garment lengths. I do not wear tops that reach below my crotch. Even with Petites, I have to roll up sleeves of Bean sweaters, cardigans & long sleeve shirts😔.
