Catalog description is inaccurate
These pants are very comfortable, but they are mislabeled; they are not sweats, as they don't have the fuzzy inside that I would expect of sweats. That said, they are comfortable, and I'll wear them when the weather gets warmer. In addition, while I ordered navy blue, these are, honestly, some other shade of blue, closer to a slate blue.

Soft Sweats
I bought my first pair and they fit perfect. Since then I have ordered navy, heather and another black and the waists are all too large. I am so disappointed the sizing is inconsistent.

Good quality, OK fit.
Like everything from LL Bean, the quality on these sweats is terrific. They run large though. I had to exchange my regular size small for an extra small. The reason I gave them 3 stars is the style. They are straight-leg as described, but honestly they're kind of frumpy in my opinion. The good news is they aren't trendy so they won't be dated next year. But there's just nothing noteworthy about them other than the quality. I would rather they had a flat front waist with elastic too as I have to re-tie them several times a day to keep them from sliding down, and the tie sticks out when wearing a fitted top.

Not a hit with me
I've not changed my opinion; the waist was unworkable for me. Had to take the whole thing apart, cut out the stiff band and the string tie. Get rid of these, will you, nobody looks good in this bunching around the waist. I'm paying somebody to alter these pants to have just a simple elastic band for the waist. I'm doing this because otherwise they fit my slender frame better than most and because the fabric is pleasant to the touch. The other design flaw (or $$ saving dodge?) is the top-stitched pockets. For a stretchy fabric like this, if you're going to top stitch, the pockets should be flayed out somewhat, not flat to the larger cloth; they'll just gap out as wear occurs. But why not just insert some real pockets, eh? Like we used to do.
