Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Pillow This pillow doesn’t smell funny. It smells clean and new. It has heavy ticking so the down and feathers won’t leak. I ordered standard soft. Not as soft as a 100% down pillow because the inside chamber is feathers. Very happy with my purchase. I think I would judge it as medium in softness because the interior chamber stiffens it up a bit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The ridge around the perimeter is very hard The pillow itself is ok although my old LL bean pillows were much better. Wish I hadn’t thrown them out. But after spending over $600 on 3 Queen and 2 king pillows, I expected comfort. The border ridge around the entire pillow is so hard and uncomfortable I can’t lay on it if that comes in contact with my face or shoulder.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unbearable smell after laundering I have had this pillow for several months and decided to wash according to the instructions (cold water, low heat). After drying, the smell was awful. Others have noted this as well, except I never noticed it until after washing and drying. It really stinks. I was able to return it but LL Bean should read their reviews. When multiple people have the same issue, they should investigate. Who knows where they source the down?
