Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many pockets This rating may be premature since I haven't had an opportunity to try it in cold weather but some things seem obvious. This coat is extremely well made and may exceed Bean's usual high standards. It has an "industrial strength" zipper and welcome snaps also. Using the snaps alone makes the coat easy to put on and take off. It's difficult to imagine where they could have put more pockets. The pockets are large and deep. The coat is fairly heavy but probably not in comparison to how warm it is. The fit for me is perfect without layering. I have a large-size coat and I weigh slightly over 200 lbs. If you weigh under this I don't think layering would be a problem for this size. I like the styling but this may be a matter of personal taste. I have the sold green which looks dressier. The other patterns have more of a lumber jack look which you may prefer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat, BUT………….. I have, and have given as gifts, multiple LL Bean wool coats and wool pants over the years, and LOVE them! High quality, durable, comfortable. My complaint that I hope LL Bean will listen to, is the hand warmer pockets being tightly and completely sewn shut, to the point that you can’t even see the thread. I recently bought myself a new $350 Maine Guide Wool Parka, ($320+ tax, actually $346), was carefully, and with a very small pair of sewing scissors trying to cut the thread line that you literally CAN’T see, got off center a millimeters or two, and accidentally cut a couple of inches of the pocket liner. VERY frustrating! I recommend the coat and would buy it again, but this is an unnecessary design practice on LL Bean’s part that needs to be corrected. Multiple other complaints about this in their reviews. The same coats I bought for my sons years ago, had 2 or 3 very visible stitches at each end of the pocket, that were clearly visible and easy to cut.
