Our Maine Guide Wool Parka combines Bean's exclusive premium-quality, tightly woven wool with the lightweight comfort and warmth of advanced PrimaLoft® Infinity insulation. You get all the advantages of heavyweight wool without added bulk, allowing you to quickly and comfortably move through the woods and mount your rifle.

Great Wool Coat - Sized way too big!
I love LL Bean Quality. Everything normally fits me well and lasts a very long time. Prices are a little more than others, but I think still well worth it. I've been wanting this Parka for a long time and finally bought one in XL. I have a 49" chest and weigh 240. I did read that these run large. WOW do they ever. By the sizing guide I should be wearing a XXL, but will be returning this XL and trying a Large instead, and hoping it wont be too small on me. Sleeves are very long and extend past my fingertips. The length of the body is also very long. I appreciate being a bit large to allow for layering. I tried it with a heavy hoodie over a long sleeve tee underneath and the parka was still really big on me. Like I said I hope a size Large will fit me. It seems really well made and really warm. I want to wear it for hunting and just general cold weather wear. Nothing Like a PA Tuxedo for winter. I had no issues with pockets being sewn shut like others had complained about. I think someone a LL Bean needs to reevaluate the suggested sizing of these coats. If a large fits ok I may consider getting a Camo one too. I wish they made the matching pants in the Red/Black to complete my Tux.

I feel like a little kid wearing my dad's coat
It's a great coat in terms of durability and warmth, but it is HUGE! I am 5' 9" and 19- pounds, I saw the reviews saying it's oversized and decided to start with a regular small. It's cartoonishly large, like a little kid wearing his dad's coat is the best way to describe it. Yes, I have room for layers, however, it would still be massive on me. I would legitimately fit better into an extra small if it were offered, and I am far from being an extra small-sized man. It is also ridiculously long, it ends at about mid-thigh on me, and it is very uncomfortable when you sit down to be sitting on the coat. I hope the company fixes the size and dimension issues in the near future.

Many pockets
This rating may be premature since I haven't had an opportunity to try it in cold weather but some things seem obvious. This coat is extremely well made and may exceed Bean's usual high standards. It has an "industrial strength" zipper and welcome snaps also. Using the snaps alone makes the coat easy to put on and take off. It's difficult to imagine where they could have put more pockets. The pockets are large and deep. The coat is fairly heavy but probably not in comparison to how warm it is. The fit for me is perfect without layering. I have a large-size coat and I weigh slightly over 200 lbs. If you weigh under this I don't think layering would be a problem for this size. I like the styling but this may be a matter of personal taste. I have the sold green which looks dressier. The other patterns have more of a lumber jack look which you may prefer.
