My Fav Venetian Moc, EVER!
I became aware of these in 1990 sometime when I noticed my dad's shoes for the first time. I loved these. When I turned 36 and had my first child, I bought a pair. Instantly fell in love. Never been a moc guy. I wear them as "house shoes that I can wear to church"... They are an all-round shoe that if you keep the leather maintained properly (saphir conditioner), will literally last you 5-7 years with casual wear, no problem. All that to say 2 things. 1) I love these new Dark Brown Venetians. I really like the color and leather texture 2) The construction in the tongue is a tiny bit different than my old versions (I think at first try, the canyon construction is a little more "robust" (but the leather is tougher, and much different finish and much less supple on my old "Canyon" color Venetians) in that area. My old were "reinforced" with a layer below and it held the shape well. I may re-review in a year and change my mind, but my first thought is I don't know if prefer the redesign.) That to say, out of the box, this leather is SUPPLE! Soaks up the conditioner like butterbread. I think the quality is still really REALLY good for the price point and honestly, you can't beat the LLBean boat moc Venetian sole. It's absolute perfection. Sticks to wet surfaces. Just awesome traction, never feel slippy. If you are shopping department store brands STOP and just come here and buy these. So much better quality. Slight step down from Sebago, but also, more casual look and less "preppy". Which I prefer. Additionally, if you like a flat feeling shoe, I think I prefer these to many "barefoot" shoes. They're "just right".. In closing and perhaps my most poignant takeaway, If you are a grown man over 29, these and a pair of LLBean Flannel pj bottoms definitely need to be in your drawer. Might I also recommend one of those absolute perfection cardigan cashmere pullovers for those chilly fall evenings with your sweety-pie. I highly recommend it! Very nice looking slipper/shoe
Bought these for my guy for Father’s Day. They are really nice quality but do run large. After he got an exchange in size they are exceptional!

Great Look! Size might be a smidge big.
I loved the look from the start. I've received compliments from anyone taking the time to notice my feet.
I ordered size 7 (yep, I have little feet). The Bean Boots that I have had for decades, a pair of oxfords that I picked up at the store in Freeport years ago, and a pair of slippers ordered by phone (pre on-line ordering days) all size 7, fit perfectly. Another Maine based shoemaker GHB__ whose size 7 W_J_ns have always fit perfectly made it a no-brainer to order size 7 again. As expected, the forefoot was a little snug, that should get worked out (the explanation card is nice, but really, has it come to this?). The overall fit seems just a little loose. The length is fine. It feels as though the fit would be better with socks (not going to do it for summer wear). I hope that the break in period, besides customizing the moccasin front will also tighten the heel just a smidge.
