Go through TSA without removing this belt
I just became a LL Bean shopper after EB closed its stores in February 2026. So this was my first order ever through LL Bean and Im happy with my purchase.
I read that the adjustable loop is too narrow and difficult to adjust. I bought and received belt. Adjustability is not difficult. It takes moderate effort. I think that is what make the belt firm after you adjust it. It will not loosen or tighten while worn all day/evening/night.
Also, im a male with a narrow waist of under 28. The small size was best for me and look great. Pants in my picture appears to look like they are sagging. My boxers are higher up and not on my waist like my pants. So belt does its job by keeping your pants where you want them.
Folks also complained about the plastic buckle. Well thats what make the belt undetectable through metal detectors. So when you go theough TSA and remove all metal objects, you don't have to remove your belt every single time. Furthermore, the buckle is similar to backpack buckles. Just a little bit harder and bigger. Ive never broken a backpack buckle. I dont plan on breaking a plastic belt buckle.
One bad thing about buckle is the male part of it is wider on the belt end of it than the female part. So when you put the male part through your belt loops, if your loops are short, it will take a little effort to get that part through the loops than the female buckle side.

Buckle makes belt unusable
The belt itself is very nice but I have found it to be extremely difficult to adjust the buckle and I have no yet worn it.

Belt fit
I bought this for my husband who is a tiny man, with a small waist, he hasn't had to wear it yet but said he liked it very much and the way you can adjust the size. I think it could have been a little narrower width for him, but no belts are made that way for men.

Buckle not up to LL Bean Standards
The belt is just what I was looking for. The material is excellent, but the plastic buckle seems very delicate, and I'm sure it won't last long. The adjustable end of the buckle is too narrow, and I had to use a screwdriver to weave it through the slots to adjust it. I wish the buckle was metal, and had been better designed.
