These expert craftspeople meticulously brush our Scotch Plaid fabric eight times on each side to create a long-lasting material with that distinctive smooth and cozy feel. But that doesn't automatically make it plush enough. It still needs to pass the "touch test." Only a master weaver can declare it soft enough.

The Perfect Flannel
This year, for the first time in many years, I decided to get a flannel shirt. Let's face it, they're classics for winter wear. I chose the blue Douglas plaid. It is beautiful, soft, a good fit, and just the right weight. You can't beat Bean's quality. LL Bean's products are a perfect investment for items you'll wear and love for years.

Great shirt !!!
I bought this shirt - it’s perfect colors, soft but well made and not too long. I’m only 5’4” so many times shirts are too long and look ridiculous . This is well portioned for a petite person !

Quality has changed
I'm disappointed that this shirt already needs a clothes shaver after just a few wearings. I have many LL Bean flannel shirts, most at least ten years old, and those never pilled like this one. They were also all manufactured in El Salvador and this new one shows Sri Lanka. Apparently that also implies a change in the quality of flannel provided...please go back to the better flannel.

Incredibly good flannel. Nice and heavy, washes well, no fading. And the styling: classic and well made. This shirt is my go to wear over a thinner shirt on chilly fall evenings here in enteral New York.

My New Favorite Bean Flannel
I have worn the Relaxed Fit Scotch Flannel for years, but I loved the color of the Antique Royal Stewart in the boyfriend fit so I ordered one. The moment I tried it on I loved the fit and ordered the same one for my daughter, who also loves traditional Scottish plaid patterns. Then I decided to order myself a backup in the same color! And when a sale came up I ordered a Washed Macbeth. The boxy fit suits my stocky build and I love not tucking it in. I hope this style is continued in more tradition colors like Navy Stewart and Macbeth. I would definitely purchase more for my daughter and myself!
