Developed tears below both shoulders in one season
Overall it is a tight fit compared to other LL Bean coats in the XL category I have purchased in the past- wish it were a bit roomier. But after a winter of use I have noticed the coat has begun to tear in the gusseted region of the shoulder. It is a small tear on both sides so it is a stress point that needs to work in the future. My activity has been shoveling snow, snow throwing and just winter wear so nothing out of the ordinary. I have tried to repair the tears with super glue- hope that stabilizes them but this is a clear weakness in the coat design.

Great jacket
Quality jacket with a good balance between casual and “work wear” apparel. Lightweight but warm with the insulation throughout the entire jacket, even the sleeves. I’ve worn it a few times in below freezing temps with a layer underneath.
My first LL Bean purchase and solid investment in a jacket that’ll last me a long time.

Better spend money elsewhere
First of all, the black jacket isn't black, it's a dark forrest green like #020d02. It's not gray, or black, but dark green.
The worst part of this jacket is the white splotches and streaks that show up seemingly out of nowhere. I have no idea where these white splotches keep coming from. I've worn this jacket indoors to break it in, and somehow white splotches keep showing up from something. It's the only piece of clothing that this has ever happened to. It's a really poor dye job, really poor advertising, and very disappointing coming from llbean for $200.
It is warm and the zippers feel good quality. The fit is too large around the wrists and the jacket is too short, almost reaching my belt.

Great all around coat
Lighter than the similar l l bean Iron Mountain coat I replaced; however, the primaloft insulation performs surprisingly well in the cold. Good all around coat for quick trips with the car, or long periods outside.
