Not warm for WI cold
I got this for below 0 temps and it is not. Maybe 0 is the limit. I noticed a lot of criticism of the hood but it is one of the best features. It is adjustable and the faux fur keep the wind out. It also closes nicely around your neck. The inside pockets are too small and the larger one is on the right, great for lefties, though! The small pocket is for...IDK?
I wouldn´t recommend if you are looking for a *really* warm coat. And if not, it's too expensive anyway

I love the hood on this coat. You don’t need a scarf as the flaps can be Velcrod up around your face. There should be one more snap at the bottom as the bottom flaps open making your calves cold. All the pockets are great.

Great coat but too long, even in petite
I had a list of things I wanted in a coat: knee length to mid-calf, zipper in front, pockets, hood with fur and good fastener to keep it on, warmth. This coat checks almost all the boxes. I'm 5'4, and this coat was still too long in petite, so I paid to get it hemmed. The only other thing I don't like is it doesn't have much shape to it; it kind of looks like I'm wearing a sleeping bag. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but a couple of darts or a slight curve inward at the waist would've been nice.

Coat for sub-zero days
This is exactly what I needed. We’ve had some mighty cold weather in Minnesota this winter, and this coat is up to the challenge. My only regret is that I didn’t get it sooner.

Poor quality; returned it
I was disappointed in this item and returned it. The coat felt flimsy. The fake fur ruff was poorly made.

Not as good as it used to be
If you purchased one of these coats a long
time ago…like 15-20 years ago, consider yourself lucky. I understand trying to cut costs, but it’s not like this cost is inexpensive. I have had both the ultra warm three-quarter down coat and the ultra warm jacket for many years. And the quality was certainly much, much better. The weight of my three-quarter coat is just about the same as the new long one. There is noticeably more down in the older coat. Another thing that is extremely disappointing is the fur on the hood. Maybe LLBean forgot that fur around the hood actually serves a purpose…like keeping your face warm?
The fur on this hood is so flimsy and sparse. The old coats had plenty of fur on the hoods. I would prefer authentic fur, rather than faux fur. Anyway, I would be fine with the faux fur if there was actually enough of it there! I’m keeping the coat because I needed a full length down coat for those extremely cold days. The coat is way overpriced for what it is.
I doubt very much if LLBean will improve this product. I’ve been shopping at LLBean for nearly 40 years and the quality of their products has declined exponentially. Well, that’s what happens when you live in a disposable culture. People don’t care about quality anymore.
