For nearly 90 years, we've been making our authentic Scotch Plaid flannel shirts the way we always have: better than everyone else's. Our exclusive flannel fabric is meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton, which means the individual cotton fibers are about one-quarter inch longer than short-staple fibers, making a huge difference in fabric strength and quality. Then, it's meticulously brushed eight times on each side and given a "touch test" by a master weaver to declare it soft enough.

Itchy flannel
Unlike other flannel I've bought from LLBean, this one doesn't seem to be of high quality. Usually after a few washings, flannel is softer. This is the opposite... pilled and seems very itchy. The main reason I bought it was that it was described as the "softest" flannel you have. I'd say it's the opposite.

soft, great color
Bought this for my husband but I liked the color so much (washed buchanan) that I am co-opting it for my own! It will make a great extra layer on cool summer nights. I guess if he's nice, I'll let him wear it once in a while :-)
