Our founder, L.L., first introduced genuine handsewn mocs 100 years ago in 1926, and we've made them better than ever before. We added a more flexible insole and upgraded the foam underfoot for immediate comfort right out of the box. A new leather sock liner molds to your foot over time for custom comfort and a barefoot feel. And new, high-quality leathers that start out comfy and get better the more you wear them.

Very small and narrow for size
Waiting for proper size restock. First pair was very small for the same size I’ve worn for years.
Very disappointed that the Allagash Bison shoes have been discontinued, that was what I was trying to replace.

Almost great
I had a pair of L.L.Bean boat shoes years ago and wanted to return to that glory, so my expectations were high. The first few times I wore them were excellent, and I thought I had found my old favorite again.
The first full day of wear is when things went wrong. The insole does not appear to be securely glued down, and while navigating an uneven sidewalk it shifted inside the shoe. Since then, it has wrinkled and made the left shoe noticeably uncomfortable.
The shoes still look great, but the practicality and attention to detail I used to associate with L.L.Bean seem to be missing. Much like when a company removes a thoughtful feature that nobody asked to change, the design just doesn’t feel as well executed as it once did... like Apple.
