Great jacket, needs further development.
I bought this jacket first in a medium, and then in a large, as I wanted to layer under neath it. I bought it for skiing and general outdoor use in the northeast and the rocky mountains. I love so many things: the fabric, the color, the pockets, and the warmth. Unfortunately, the zipper needs replacement--it sticks a lot, and does not function as smoothly as zippers usually do. Also, I really miss having a snow skirt in this jacket. The drawstring hem does not work as well as a snow skirt for keeping out cold air and flying snow. I have worn it several times, and will keep an eye on this next season--maybe it will be new and improved! Love LL Bean....

I was in need of a toasty warm winter jacket that was going to keep me warm out in the snow and cold weather. I have been buying LLB products since the late 70's when I bought my fist canvas tote bag for school. Love the brand and quality of everything I have ever purchased from LLB.

The Warmest Jacket
This is the warmest jacket I have ever worn! Wonderful on the ski slopes or sledding with the kids. So many pockets and adjustments. It also feels and looks great!

Hoped for better
This is a nice, warm jacket but has a few issues. First, like others have said, the hood is huge but I wear a knit hat under it which mitigates this and adds more warmth. My bigger problem is the zipper which doesn’t zip smoothly at all is and very difficult to get started. I am afraid it will stop working all together. I expect better quality from LL Bean, particularly at this price point.

I really love this jacket!
I really love this jacket. I wear it both on its own and under a shell when it is super windy when I ski. The stretch fabric allows for great movement and it's really warm.

Warm and comfy!
I absolutely love this jacket!! I was really unsure which size to order because usually I’m between a M and L. M usually fits everywhere but feels tight in the shoulders/armpit area. I ordered a medium and I’m glad I did it fits perfectly and it is so warm and comfy. I love the purple/black color combo. The only thing that I could do without is the absolutely gigantic hood.

Beautiful color with awkward design features
I love the color and the fit of this coat. But, as the other reviewers had warned, the hood is huge, designed to fit over a helmet (for skiers?). I might wear it over a knitted hat, but don't need so much roomy space. And when the hood is down, the neck is exposed to the cold. I found the zippers in the arm pits to be very uncomfortable. I ordered a small, when a medium might have been better? I returned it because the extra design features were not for me.

Jacket
I'm not satisfied with this jacket I purchased. The jacket isn't warm for winter conditions.
