Very Good choice for cold and wet - great hood
Took this bad boy to Iceland in Feb and it performed well in cold and wet weather. It is staying in my closet as an excellent cold gear option and I am a fan. (My wife has safe and feels same.) I wore this morning till night, hiking, touring, standing still, everything but skiing and climbing.
Overall:
Looks good. I have the yellow onte and it looks cool on the ice and since I wear black pants it works for me and maintains excellent visibility in the wild (so definitely not my go-to for birding or nature photos.)
Warm. I wore a base layer in merino, another shirt or wool sweater, sometimes a really thin hoodie, and this coat with the liner. It was warm enough for me at F 20 with a neck gaiter and a hat. I am not a fan of the cold so you may be able to colder. The liner is not down and is quite warm and stylish on its own. When we were in the city and it was cold I wore a down vest inside so I could keep the jacket unzipped and stay warm.
Breathable. Under arm vets are very good and have dual zippers that are a little small but they are under your arms so probably the best they can do - definitely important feature. Generous front zipper that is easy to use with gloves makes it easy to vent heat quickly (as on any jacket) and, mostly, closes all up pretty well.
Fit and finish is excellent. Cuffs, zippers, arm pocket, pockets, seams, glove keepers, all excellent and what I expect on a higher priced jacket.
Hood is very adjustable. Fits over a climbing helmet, and over my head without a helmet, it is widely adjustable in the field and it really makes a difference for warmth and dry-fit. The peak can be adjusted to where you want it and the rest pulled tight around your face to suit. Best ever for me that allowed me to rely on a neck gaiter and a regular knit cap.
Some fe negatives. Really, this is a 4.5 for me and there are only two things that I would change. The jacket adjusts around the bottom, which is nice, and it does not adjust at the waist. (I am 6'2" 235 lbs and where the XL) I would have liked a tighter fit in the torso to be allowed for with adjustment. It may be a little short for that from a design perspective, and on a snow machine, hiking in semi confined places (we went into an ice cave, it is not as challenging as it sounds and it is confining) and getting in and out of vehicles would be easier. It would be amazing if this jacket had a collar for a detachable hood, or the collar was more structured. It was hard to pull it up sometimes as it was rolled forward from being unzipped all the way most times. When I did zip up all the way it was a bit tight with the neck gaiter, a bit drafty without. This may just be my shape and will not keep me from reaching for this again.
Overall this is great. This is a great way to stay warm and dry in harsh environments. I think it looks pretty good.

Warm jacket
I bought this jacket for my 15 year old son. It kept him warm while shoveling snow and trekking around with friends.

Too many possible adjustments
I cannot easily utilize all of the available features of this item without assistance: the features are too complex to adjust without assistance while wearing the jacket.

Excellent Design and Features
Multi-functional coat that offers a lot. Warmer than expected and very comfortable. Fit is perfect. Only thing I would have added is an inside chest pocket on the liner jacket.

Really warm, size up to wear over bulky layers
Slightly fitted - so if wearing over a thin layer like 40 gram PrimaLoft Large will fit over Large. Shoulders are a bit tight.
To wear over a puffy or a fleece then size up one. When used as an insulated hard shell to put on as one goes above tree line. I use the Wildcat over my LL Bean 2023 Men's Primaloft Packaway Pro Hooded Jacket.
Length falls at the hips so it does not interfere with leg motion.
I love LL Bean's 3-in-1 jackets. I have one with 40 gram PrimaLoft that I use when traveling. I get a rain shell only, an insulated jacket, or an insulated hard shell.
I love that LL Bean still offers bright colors like Red and Yellow. Although I find that Yellow shows the dirt more.
Observation / complaint about LL Bean sizing / clothing fit getting more trim over the years. So one now needs to size up when one wants a top layer coat for winter camping, layering up during a stop.
I am still using LL Bean fleece jackets and vests from 15+ years ago size Medium that fit like size Large fit now. Not only an issue with LL Bean, other vendors have the same issue.

Good winter jacket for recreation and projects
I got this jacket for my husband. He says it’s warm, lightweight and comfortable. Good length and adequate pockets. I like the bright color—I can find him in the snow when he’s hiking or snowblowing!
