Great Pack, but Quality????!
I ordered this pack in July ON SALE--always wanted one, but $170 was too pricey for me. Got it at half price - and I would consider it 'half quality'!! 3 Months and the strap is already frayed!! There is no excuse for the poor quality, allowing manufacturers to skimp on materials and labor, that we find prevalent these days across the board. I expect better of LLBean. I have been a LOYAL LLBEAN customer for over 60 (yes, 60) years!! I bought this pack to replace a kid's deluxe book backpack that I had used everyday (as a 'purse') and for hiking/overnight packing -- it had fireflies on it and glowed in the dark! It's still in GREAT shape, the straps intact, only the reflective paint is a bit scuffed! There is no excuse (other than its' cheapened manufacture) that the straps on this new pack, which I mostly love, and will continue to use daily, should fray!!! I miss the old LLBEAN stamp of quality and find it increasingly harder to justify your prices.

Very well made
This would have been a 5 star except that the laptop holder was a bit smaller than expected so it takes a lot of effort to fit the computer inside. That is just a personal thing so others won't be bothered by this. A tablet would fit fine. The bag is very well made, sturdy and just feels substantial. I bought it on sale but even full price would be worth getting this very nice bag.

Got tired of the black nylon ones with too many pockets and zippers. This looks great and has plenty of room. Laptop pocket easily holds computer and portable monitor. HD metal zippers are durable and track easily.
