After reading reviews stating how tight the waist is running, I ordered a 34 waist for my 33" waist husband. It's big. He doesn't have a problem with it though, as he will be tucking thicker shirts in the waist one it's colder outside. I would say it runs true to size, not small in the waist. Nice pants, fit well.
