A good boot with a somewhat negative surprise
Usually I love LL Bean products. Shirts, pants, the Maine Hunting Boot have all been great over the years. This Chelsea-style boot is good but doesn't quite come up to great. I deliberately ordered my usual shoe size so that I could wear these with very heavy wool socks. The rubber part fits perfectly, exactly how I wanted. The opening at the top is huge with the elastic being almost too much so that the fit is very loose. Even with my heavy socks the boot feels like it wants to slip off and does not seem secure. "Sloppy" is the best descriptor. Either I will get used to the fit or I will have to take in the elastic. A good boot that could be better with less or tighter elastic and a smaller top opening.
