Handcrafted in Brunswick, Maine, one tote at a time. From the heavyweight canvas to the reinforced handles to the double-stitched seams, nothing compares to our iconic, American-made Boat and Tote. This classic zip-top version has a handy outside pocket that gives you quick access to smaller items.
Since 1944, we've been making our iconic Boat and Tote in Maine. The same way. Our only way. First introduced as "Bean's Ice Carrier," it's proudly stitched by a dedicated team from high-quality American cotton canvas, with a reinforced canvas bottom and rugged overlapped seams. When it's finished, you'll be able to tell it's an L.L.Bean original by the signature "V-point" detail on both sides. We make your tote one at a time here in Brunswick, Maine. Then it's your turn to make it your own.

Well-made with speedy monogramming
Well-made and monogrammed VERY quickly, in time for a birthday present for my sister to replace the ragged boat and tote she had been dragging around for years. She loves it!

Navy tote
This is my 6th Boat and Tote and it’s my favorite! I love the all navy bag with a white monogram. Purchased the medium and it’s a great bag to carry on my frequent flights bc it fits under the seat on the plane perfectly! Love it so much that I am eagerly awaiting the large one to be made.
