Wanted for long walks/hikes, but…
I have really been looking for a pair of supportive but comfortable hiking shoes for a while. While these look nice and are built sturdy, the toe box isn’t as wide as it should be. (I did order wide). Right off the bat I noticed that the right toe box was smaller and tighter than the left. The shoes were not the same as each other. I hoped that this would stretch a bit after a few wearing, but it hasn’t. The result is that I cannot wait to get them off after a few hours. My right foot is so hot and tight. I ordered a half size larger than I normally wear. Also ordered wide, and wide is normal for my foot. So, although they seem to be made well in general, something is off there.

Pure comfort for really screwed up feet!
These hikers were comfortable the minute I tried them on. I sized up to compensate for orthotics and thicker socks typically worn in hiking shoes. These shoes are well made, have soft leather uppers and a substantial hiking tread. They hit just above the ankle.

I decided to try these as it is hard to find a waterproof leather shoe for women that is available in a wide width. I have found these to fit well and they are very comfortable. I already ordered a second pair so I can have one pair for work and one pair for home.

Comfotable, well-made, and waterproof
I live in rural Virginia and these shoes are exactly what I was looking for when the snow started melting this year. When I first unpacked them I was sure they were too small, but I put them on and they fit perfectly and were so comfortable that I wore them around the house for the rest of the day. I have wide feet and a high instep but the lacing made it easy to insert my feet in the shoes and conform the tongues to them. The deeply lugged soles are great for walking in the woods and on dirt and gravel roads, although they require more than a few swipes on a doormat before entering the house.

Great fit
I bought this for an overseas trip a bit over 2 months ago, and I’m quite happy with it. Not much breaking in was needed. The fit was comfortable from the get go.
