Nonsensical fit, uninformed design
I’m 6’2” and 215 lbs. I purchased XXL TALL in this anorak because it’s notorious for having a poor fit. Guess what? The sleeve measures 22” from armpit to cuff. That’s like a men’s regular large. So this piece is sized down, three sizes, as an outer layer. It also lacks any flap behind the zipper, so the wind can blow through, and the cold zipper slider will be against your skin. I normally wear size Large in technical midlayers, yet this outer layer, sized up three sizes to XXL tall, still rises up above my waist if I raise my arms, and the sleeve rides up my forearm. So both the length of the sleeve and construction of the shoulder seems are for standing still, hands at your sides. Like a mannequin. To summarize, this is not an actual outdoor garment. It’s the premise of a garment. It’s for looking like the guy in the picture, not for wearing outdoors. That tells me a lot about who Bean thinks their customers are.

It’s just a shell
Bought to replace my Superdry anorak that I bought in the U.K. Unlike the Superdry anorak this “coat” has no quilted lining. The cuffs on the sleeves are uncomfortable and the hood is pathetically oversized - I’m a big guy but cannot imagine the monster whose head would fit the hood. The drawstrings used to tighten the hood are equally pathetic. On a positive note it was good to see that Bean has tall sizes. I am sure the shell fabric will work well in a strong wind, provided you wear something substantial underneath. In conclusion, I am a bit disappointed by the quality. I would not wear this anorak to a football game otherwise you’d freeze to death.

Well made to the high standards one expects from LL Bean. Light weight, easily packable and versatile. I’ve worn it over sweatshirts in colder weather and t-shirts in warmer weather.

Great travel jacket !
The best travel jacket. Front zipper pocket holds wallet, phone , tickets, tissues and keys secured.
Have navy in regular and tall green. I’m 5’11” and got the tall for more arm and front coverage . Both wash great.

Loved it 30 years ago. Love it today.
I was so excited to see that LL Bean was carrying these again. I owned one 30 years ago and loved it. Same holds true for this anorak. Put a little DWR on it, and I’ll have a spring and summer rain coat.
