Why We Love Them
An avid outdoorsman, Leon Leonwood Bean wanted to create a comfortable, dry pair of boots for tromping through the backwoods of Maine. Today, our signature rubber mocs are still sewn right here in Maine, one pair at a time, from premium full-grain leather.
- Premium full-grain leather upper and molded rubber boot foot shed snow and rain.
- Supportive steel shank and rubber chain-tread bottom provide comfort and traction.
- Still crafted here in Maine from the highest quality materials.
- Convenient slip-on style with rawhide lace to adjust fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ScubaMan522 from Great shoes! Great quality just like the 30 year old pair these replaced. Thirty years ago I wore a size 10 shoe and the old LL Bean size 9 fit fine. I now wear a size 11 and ordered size 10. They were huge!!! Called customer service who politely/efficiently/very quickly replaced the size 10 with size 9 which still are a little larger than expected. I read the LL Bean recommendation for proper fit but the product sizing has changed over the years. Once you find the correct size, you will be pleased with your purchase. The shoes are very good quality material/workmanship and I highly recommend them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Montani from Heel too small and lace fastener is a bad design I really like the idea of these boots, but there are three major problems with them. First, the single leather lace fastening method is no good. It is like a drawstring and it balls up the tongue of the moc and is uncomfortable. The moc doesn't feel secure on your foot. Second the heel should come to the edge of the sole for stability. Third, it looks like it is almost impossible to replace the leather string if it breaks, as shoe laces do. For $89 the lace should be easily replaceable. These do not look like the old original duck boots I bought years ago. The quality is not nearly as good, in my opinion. I won't ask for my money back, but I would not buy them again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LLBeanCamperForYears from Disappointed in the New Design I bought this "moc" as a replacement for the indestructible gum shoe, of which I've owned two pairs over the past many years. Unfortunately, the reviews I read were correct: even though I bought the "right" size #smaller than my shoe size#, they are a little tight in the toe box, but my heel comes out of the heel box when I walk. Tightening the laces doesn't help - had to send the mocs back. As others have mentioned, I think the problem is the design of the lacing, it's just not as well thought out as the old gum shoe, and there is nothing close enough to the old product as a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gerrarrd from Great product. Amazing customer service. I decided to get my first ll bean mocs and pleased with what I got. I usually wear size 9.5-10 shoes so I got a size 9, as per insturctions of the website. When it came (fast delivery!), tried it on and my ankle was slipping out when I walk. I'm planning to use only light/medium wt socks so I called for a replacement, maybe 2 sizes smaller than my normal shoe size. (corteous operator!). In 2 days, I got my size 8 and it fits perfectly! If you will be wearing light/medium wt socks, consider buying 2 sizes smaller than your normal shoe size. It worked for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LCDRMike from Quality change If I am not wearing a suit I am wearing LL Bean so this is an unusual rating from me. Got the new shoes and then figured out the sizing. I would have been fine with the sizing hunt but then I looked inside and saw no real lining like in the shoes I was replacing. The lining had made the shoes warm. Also the tongue of the shoe that had been thicker and lined was now on the new shoe just a piece of very thin leather. You lost the support the tongue provided that prevented your heal from slipping out. The originals lasted a long time though. 22 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Damian from Mocs I perchased these shoes last Friday and got them yesterday. I am obsessed with them! I can already tell that they are going to be my favorite winter shoes. L.L. Bean's service is amazing and very efficient. Their customer service was a great help to me. They helped me choose which size shoe I should order. I wear a size 10, but for the Mocs I had to go one size down to a 9 medium. I thought I was going to have to go two sizes down from some of the reviews I read, but I did a live chat with a customer service representative and they helped me greatly. The Mocs fit perfectly, I'm sure I'll be getting a pair of the 6 inch Bean Boots after I grow out of the Mocs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Charlie from Poor design. Way too big. This is not your father's rubber moc. First, Bean has replaced the lace eyelets with a single flimsy strand of leather. And the tongue now fits OVER the sides of the shoe. There is no way to lace the shoe up tight, and that's a problem, because the shoes are at least two sizes too big. And there is no way the laces will last because they loop around that single flimsy strand which is sure to break sooner rather than later. Look closely at the pictures in the ad. This moc may be ok for laying around the deck, but it's no good for walking, mowing, etc. I returned it for exchange. Now been almost four weeks, and haven't seen the replacement moc yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by cehendy from Rubber Moc #TA-175061 - One Size Fits None There is absolute no way to determine what size of these Rubber Moc to order to assure a proper fit. Someone at L L Bean needs to rethink the manufacturing philosophy of this product. I previously owned a pair of these Mocs, or what used to be these, and wore them until the soles were worn through. I have periodically made attempts to replace them, but fitting ended in disappointment. I keep hoping L L Bean will realize their fault with sizing today’s product, they obviously haven’t. The size 10 and 9 N are both still way too large for my 10 ½ foot, so I remain disappointed and mocless. As always, L L Bean accepted both returns and even paid for postage. I now have given up on this once fine product.
