Field tested in the extremes of New Hampshire's White Mountains, this women's insulated parka features a tough wind-and-waterproof shell and serious down warmth to keep you comfortable in serious wind and cold.

A stylish-looking very warm winter jacket.
I love this coat! It is extremely warm, has inside and outside pockets, can be cinched at the waist, and the hood provides extra protection on cold, windy harsh New England weather.

Still worn, more than 50 years later
My Baxter State parka has kept me warm and dry (and well-pocketed) on Appalachian Mountain Club hikes long ago and also in Scottish mountains for more than 50 years. I just had my 90th birthday (really), no longer hiking but at least happily walking (with Troika, my sine-qua-non three-wheeled walker!) in the parks of Glasgow wearing my old blue Baxter State parka.

Tested in the big cold white of Alaska
I purchased a Baxter State Parka in January 2011 to wear while in Denali Park, Alaska for 4 months. It was -45° (yes, 45 degrees BELOW zero. I was sure glad I had been able to purchase such a warm and waterproof jacket. This kind of cold is kinda indescribable; you have to experience it. When I first stepped off the plane in Fairbanks, it felt like the cold punched me in my lungs. If you are going where it is very cold and wet, I highly recommend the Baxter State Parka.

This parka is exactly like the one I purchased 10 years ago. This coat will keep you so warm you won't need to wear any extra layers beneath it. The hood keeps my head just as toasty. I'm sorry to see my old parka go away, but I know this new one is will be just as good.

Perfect warm winter jacket!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Warm, weatherproof, comfortable, in a dark charcoal. I never selected a fur rimmed hood before but now that I have one, I love the texture around my face. So glad I found this.
