warm
Warm, thick. One star off for itchy at the neck. I wish the neck was lined with soft fleece.

Great-looking sweater!
Great-looking sweater! I ordered this during the summer/Labor Day sale and it fits great. That said, I haven't worn or washed it yet, so can't include info on how it holds up. I got the cream color and love the brown patch details and the orange inside neckline -- great little details. I saw a number of details saying the sweater is itchy ... I tried it on and feel like the wool is super soft, but again, haven't worn it just yet. I can already tell this is going to be a season staple that will get worn a ton this fall and winter.

Warmth at its Best
Love this 100% wool sweater. I grew up with german parents that dressed us kids in boiled wool long johns and hats to play outside in the winter, so the itchy feel of wool that others complain of does not bother me. The weight and density of this sweater is perfect for wearing alone on cool days or as a layer under a coat. I purchased to use specifically for shoulder season while fishing in Kodiak, AK, in September. When not raining, I wore this sweater with only a wool-blend t-shirt underneath (keeps the sweater fresher longer, and it's easier to wash a t-shirt). Was never cold, even when on a fishing boat miles out on the Pacific Ocean. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you understand the concept of layering. This sweater is now an integral part of my active outdoor gear. I did not have issues with the material snagging after 7 days continual wear. Will not know until after the winter season how this holds up to hand washing, piling, etc, but I am very pleased with product so far.

As itchy as it is cool.
A beautiful authentic sweater that I can’t look at without itching. If I were to ever wear it it would have to be with an oversized turtleneck underneath and -30 degrees outside . Did I mention it’s warm.

Wool mockneck, warm and stylish
The off white merino sweater is perfect for a chilly New England summer morning! Be aware that there are 3 patches, one small pocket patch and elbow patch on left sleeve, and an elbow patch on right. These patches really show up aginst the lighter colored off white. I was initally surprised and taken back, and now I think they’re cool. Very contemporary.

Warm and Rugged
purchased a Small REgularThe woman’s Maine Guide Mock Crew Sweater feels more dense than other sweaters. The wool is tightly woven. It is very warm. I love the patches on the elbows, the snap pocket on the left arm, and the olive color with the touch of russet inside the collar. the arms are plenty long—for warmth and good looks-which I appreciate. The wool is a little scratchy, so I wear a turtleneck shirt underneath—which is no problem, since I wear this sweater in cold weather! I purchased a size Small Regular.

Changed my prior review
Loved these at first. Washed per instructions on delicate and cold water, hung to dry. Started pilling and lots of fuzz came out. It also shrunk in size and the worst part was it became extremely and unbearably itchy!
