When it comes to base layers, we know how hard it can be to find the perfect pick. That's why we designed our L.L.Bean Base Layers to take the guesswork out of finding the right weight, or fabric, or fit. This midweight base layer top is our most versatile ever--we love layering it with our fleece for fall hikes, or under a winter jacket for that first snowshoe of the season.

What I Wanted
I bought three of these. I like the weight of the fabric and texture, and calling it midweight is accurate. Sizing is the only thing I'll mention, especially compared to Bean's lightweight quarter zip. The midweight is about a full size smaller. Said differently, the lightweight in XXL is really a big XXL where the midweight is smallish. Both are in the range of acceptability, just different.
