    Why We Love Them
The original Maine Hunting Shoe was Leon Leonwood Bean's first product, introduced in 1912. Over the years, we've made lots of improvements to these boots, but hunters have told us that they miss the moccasin-like feel that our original boots had in the woods. So we set out to bring it back.
    • Premium waterproof leather upper.
    • Moccasin-like, flexible sole grips better and lasts longer than ever.
    • Steel shank for superior lateral and arch support.
    • Handstitched and checked for quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These Are An Extremely Versatile Boot I bought these boots several years ago when I was in college because of the excessive rain where I lived. They were so comfortable and versatile they quickly became my go to footwear for any outdoor activity. They've held up beautifully over the last 5 years whether in rain or snow, while camping, hiking, hunting or working on the farm. I've taken them with me as I've travelled from the south to the northeast to the midwest and they've stood up to every challenge. I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 and I opted for a size 6. They fit very well with thick wool socks and thinner socks too. They are fantastic quality and still look and feel very comfortable after all these years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great boot I've been wearing these for a few weeks now, thinking I would have to break them in, and they have been incredibly comfortable from the get go. i was surprised at how supportive they feel - i also have a pair of sorel's and these are much more supportive. They are also sleeker and less clunky than my sorel's. all of the reviews stating to buy down a size from your normal size are 100% true. i learned this the hardway, seeing size 11 being available and not on backorder, but when they arrived they were massive. i returned and placed an order for the backordered 10s. the estimated ship date was 3/23/16, but they actually arrived at the beginning of november!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot! Living in Memphis we have winters that are cool (40s and 50s) but rather wet, so good boots are a must. I dithered a lot on sizing, especially since my size was back ordered for 6 weeks (despite me ordering them in the beginning of May). I'm an 8 1/2, and I ordered an 8. With light socks, they fit great if I add in an insole. The fit is wonderful with heavy socks, or two pairs of merino socks, without the additional insole. I haven't tried them for warmth yet, since it's now 90 degrees, but I did stand in a tub of water to my ankles and the boots kept my feet completely dry! Looking forward to whatever winter brings this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit as Described I was very nervous about choosing the fit but following the directions online for the Maine Hunting Shoe led me to the perfect fit first time-- I am a 9-1/2 to 10 in US sizes and I ordered the size 10. I feel the 10" version was the best fit for my 5'8" frame (and probably women taller than me!) for balance. I chose the unlined version, and for Southern winters I wouldn't have needed anything warmer. I wore them in the snow and they were excellent--warmth, grip, overall fit with both thin cotton socks or thick wool socks. I look forward to trying them in colder weather travels since they were more than warm enough at 30*F. I love these boots and would 100% recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No break in time I have a red: yes, RED pair of 8" boots. I work in home health and this has been the worst winter in many years. I have had great troubles with wet, cold feet. I shopped every place around my area with no satisfactory boots so....I ordered my Bean boots and have had them for 2 weeks. Usually I can't wear any shoe everday but these have been comfortable from the git go. When the weather turned particularly cold I wore bamboo low socks underneath my boot socks and nooooo problems! What a great product! I have already recommended to several other therapy co workers. Scott made my boots: thank you Scott!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IN LOVE My husband and I are in the military living overseas, ordering clothing online always makes me nervous since I can't try it on and it takes so long to get to us or return if needed. My friend owns these boots though and told me I've got to give them a try. We live up north in the mountains with constant changing weather, we also love activities outdoors. I absolutely LOVE these boots! Take their recommendation on ordering a size smaller too, I am a 9 and ordered an 8, they fit great! These boots are cute, durable, comfortable, and can withstand any weather. 10/10 would recommend to anyone! Thank you L.L.Bean for the perfect boot!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True 7 1/2 regular wears size 6 These are my first bean boots ever and as I wasn't going to get the version of this boot that has the built in thinsulate, I figured I would go a full size and a half down based off of so many reviews. The boots arrived quickly, and they fit perfectly with still plenty of room in the toe box because my toes still didn't reach the end of the boot. I can definitely wear a thicker sock if I wanted to. They look and feel great. People mention that it's hard to get your foot in and out of the boot because the way the tongue is built - just undo the laces and you should have no trouble. common sense people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only boots I need! I had my eye on the Bean boots for a while; however, I wanted something with more height and a different color that could get dirty. The Maine Hunting Shoe is the answer! I wanted these boots to wear in Northern California: mud, rain & dirt would be the extent of their use. I wear a size 8 and purchased a size 7; perfect fit. I wore them with thin/medium socks and feel my foot moving around a bit; thicker socks would be better. After about 6 hours of wear, my feet felt fine and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Can't wait to break them in!
