Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pants, frayed too soon but redeemed These are very nice pants. They look nice, the fit is good, they are comfortable, liquid rolls off them, they did not shrink. In fact, they became my favorite every-day pants. They would have been 5-star rated BUT, after having them for four months - worn 30-40 times, washed 2-3 times - the seat of the pants frayed through on an area about the size of a quarter. I contacted Customer Service and, on their directions, returned them for an equal exchange. In less than a week I had the replacement pants at no charge, not even shipping costs. Good customer service redeemed the quality problem. I am now waiting to see how the new pair holds up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome pants, but... I have been purchasing the Double L Chinos for years. They have been a wonderful fit for me, both physically and functionally. I have not experienced issues with lost buttons, frayed cuffs, or belt loops, the legs are not too baggy (although that may be a matter of preference.) However, for the past several years the Double L chinos I have purchased have exhibited wear and fading along the rear pockets on both sides. It generally only takes a couple of months for the fading to set in. I continue to purchase the chino's because they are such a good fit for me otherwise, but it is quite aggravating. I do not recall this being an issue maore than a few years back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My review removed I put thought into my review but for some reason it was removed. Why? Here it is again. Great, but. In nearly all respects, these are the best chinos I've ever found. I am 6-3, 190 lb, 36-34. Fit is perfect. The material is slightly heavier than usual for chinos, which I like. They hang out amazingly overnight, no wrinkles. The crease is really permanent. The color, dark khaki, is sharp. I'm tall and the rise is right for me. Here's the only problem, the "but": the FLY is much too short, maybe by an inch. I hope you can fix this. In the meantime I'll just have to get used to "up and over"! Thanks for any feedback.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Badly sized I ordered a 34/30 to replace a pair of the same pants that had worn through at the edge of the bottom of the leg. Those pants were not very old and in good condition otherwise but I wonder if the wrinkle proof sizing makes the fabric stiffer and thus prone to wear on a sharp edge? The new pants were both too tight and too short. The previous pair had been a 33/30 but we got a bigger size to allow for long johns. The so-called 34" waist measured less than 33" (acttually smaller than the old pair with the 33" waist) and were only 29" in the leg. I am exchanging them for another pair hoping that this was an aberration from Bean's usually excellent quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Fit I have been wearing your classic jeans in a 35" waist size for years and they fit great. I ordered these Chino's in classic size 36" waist expecting them to give me a little more dressy look for evening wear but that wasn't the case. The fit is terrible. They are as small in the waist as my 35" classic jeans, they are tight in the hip area, the rise in the seat is cut too short and the material in the thighs is baggy. Unfortunately I can't wear them and they must be returned. Lately, I have noticed both quality and sizing of LLBean's merchandise is changing and not for the better. Sorry!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality of clothing/pants has gone to the dogs! We are so sad to have to finally look for another place to purchase pants for my husband. 30 years we have been buying from LLBean!!! The quality/workmanship of the pants we have been receiving for the past few years, are just bad. These last pants we got, were wrinkled in the seams (I SEW! so I can tell they weren't pressed at each stage and just sewn together) and that doesn't eventually press out. The dark pants just don't last past a few washings (~6). I do a gentle wash, and just damp dry and they lose their color really fast or the belt loops get worn out quickly, they get fiber bare. AND they're now made in China! (my husband says they used to be made in other locales, eg Malaysia)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from inconsistent A few months ago I purchased a pair of these exact same chinos in a different color. I was satisfied, so I ordered another pair. They fit differently - the waist is tighter (I just moved down to a 37 - the first pair fit nicely - these are tight). In addition, the button on the pants and the pocket buttons are either (a) too big for the hole, or (b) the hole was sewed too tight for the button. In other words, it's a real effort to button and unbutton both the pants and the pockets - especially the pockets, as I have my hands behind my back! I've worn them twice, and I am hoping they will "loosen up" a bit in the wash.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Big I ordered the Classic Fit LL chinos in size 40 to fit my 40.5" waist. The pants were 1" too big for my waist and too full in the seat and thighs. I returned them and ordered the Hidden Comfort Waist (HCW) LL chinos in size 38. These fit much better in the seat and thighs, and only 1" stretch required to fit my waist. Apparently both the Classic fit and the HCW chinos run about 1.5" too large in the waist. Also, the Classic fit is no more trim than the HCW. For my build, at least, the strategy for the best fit is to order the HCW one size smaller than my actual waist.
