Rated 3 out of 5 by straps from Slim now means SLIM Good News: LL Bean is modernizing its silhouettes. Bad news: Be careful what you ask for. I've bought M/Tall in "Slim" before and been happy with the product. Love the fabric, the length and the fit through the body but the chest and shoulders are just too tight (I'm in good but not great shape--a conditioned athlete would be unable to wear this shirt). If the wearer can't rightly be described as "wiry" (or as I was described in my youth, "scrawny"), order one size up or pass, in favor of the "Slightly Fitted" silhouette. Still thumbs up--I would recommend this to a skinny friend who can't buy off the shelf at a department store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by csb595 from the one shirt without fit type in name The shirt is nice, but it did not get out of the poly bag. This must be the only shirt in the LLB group that did NOT state the fit type in the product name. All the other shirts indicate 'traditional' or 'fitted'. I missed it in the additional text, and like a dummy, I bought it based on all the other details. When I received it, I saw the 'slim fit' tag inside the collar and did not even remove it. I'm not huge, but I don't want a fitted shirt. LLB Marketers/Editors: please be consistent - that's one of the things most of us like about you. Make us look, or, don't make us look. Choose one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by textileboy from OLD SCHOOL SHIRT Just like oxford cloth shirts from the 1960's. Highly twisted yarns , tightly woven. Has a wrinkled appearance that is unique even when ironed. Definitely unique. Probably hipster if the hipsters even know what to look for in a retro shirt. If you were born in the 1950's you will get the details of the fabric and construction of the shirt. Most others won't understand what they looking at. Textile yarn making and looms changed in the 1970's so this fabric disappeared before 1980. Bean did a good job on this one , but I doubt if they even realize what they created.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CTMathGuy from Serious Weight The only thing I dislike about this shirt is that it's only available in white. The fabric has some real heft to it (in an amazing way.# I've got a number of the non iron standard LL bean shirts #mainly windowpane) and this might be twice as heavy. I've worn it 3-4 times so far and it's a real joy. In the regular non iron shirts I've purchased I like the slimmer fit tall options. I ordered a Large Tall and it fits me well, could probably be a little slimmer but I'm still very happy with it. 6'2 200lbs at the moment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CustomerInIssaquah from Too tight across the shoulders Seemed OK at first, but became too tight across the shoulders after a few washes so I am returning it. The tightness was on the front so the back pleat didn't help in providing flexibility. A pity, since this is the last of the no-no-iron shirts offered by LL Bean: everything else is treated cotton. (Someday scientists will realize that wearing cotton soaked in formaldehyde next to the skin is probably a good idea.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by 3sportdad from Great for most, but . . . These shirts run short. We bought two of these and shipped them to our son. He loves the shirts. He's worn them several times. It was only after we saw him in person that he complained about one thing: they come untucked easily. He put one on for us and showed us the shirt untucked, and you can see how short they run. There's no way to tell beforehand unless someone tries them on in person, so we don't fault L.L. Bean. But we wish he had told us BEFORE he washed and wore them! If we order a third color, we'll definitely order a tall for him. Another of our sons is 6'2" and usually needs a "tall," but this son has never needed one before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by UnUomoAttivo from Lot To Like About This Shirt There is a lot to like about this shirt (product id 300554). First of all it fits me perfectly; my chest size is 42 and I am about 5'10" with a medium build. I purchased size Large (at out local L.L. Bean retail store near Rochester, NY). The sleeve ends just below my wrist with my arms at rest. Even though the collar tag says "Slim Fit", the cut is perfect: not too big so that there is a lot of shirt to stuff in your pants, and not too slim so that you feel like you are wearing a wet suit. Most of the Large white shirts that I have bought in the past have had enough cloth in them to double as a tent. Not this one. This shirt has a button down collar which I prefer. My neck size is 15.5 and the collar remains comfortable with the front buttoned all the way to the top - although I don't foresee wearing this shirt with a tie. If I did I would buy an Oxford button down with wider separation at the front of the collar. The fabric itself is a heavy Oxford weave which will make it very comfortable to wear next to my skin in the cold months here in the North Country. I intend to wear this shirt with jeans as the not-too-bright white tone of the shirt makes for a nice contrast without drawing attention to itself. I'm putting a dark fleece vest (LL Bean 284628) over this combo to complete the outfit - my new fall-spring uniform. BTW I bought three of these, one of them a nice tone of grey. Thank you LL for another great product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DrewT from Slim fit? I bought this shirt in large tall and was pleased with the fit in the sleeves and across the shoulders. The rest of the shirt, however, hung on me like a poncho. I ended up returning it. I am 6' 3" and weigh 190 lbs. I'm slim, but by no means "skinny." If you are looking for a shirt with a truly slim fit, you may want to keep looking.
