      Product Details

Our heaviest-weight flannel. Made of thick chamois fabric that's warmer than ordinary flannel, it's a shirt, light jacket and essential layer all in one.
      Size & Fit
      • Designed with extra room for layering.
      • Traditional Fit: Relaxed through the chest, sleeve and waist.
      Why We Love It
When our founder, Leon Leonwood Bean, developed this shirt more than 90 years ago, durability was the goal. Then as now, the 100% cotton shirt is brushed for exceptional softness and warmth. And it still gets better with age. In fact, customers rave about the "impeccable quality" and tell us that these shirts just get more and more comfortable over the years.

      • Machine wash and dry.
      Additional Features

Men's Chamois Shirt, Traditional Fit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 1839.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from miles of extra material The material is lovely and warm. The cut is possibly the worst I've ever worn. There is legitimately about one foot of extra material past the last button, making this fit like a dress. Tucked in, there is still an absurd amount of extra material. I ordered a size small and I'm 5'9, 160lbs. No matter what I do, I end up looking like a little kid in this chamois shirt and will be definitely be returning it unless I get some reassurance that it shrinks a decent amount after a wash-dry cycle. I have other traditional fit size small products from LL Bean and they fit really well, so this is especially disappointing for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in quality! Haven't purchased Bean's chamois shirts for several years. Recently bought my husband 5 of these. Beautiful right out of the package, but after a couple of washings they look like they are several years old. I wash on gentle cycle, cold water and very, very low heat dryer. In fact, my husband had on one of these shirts and a friend had on a chamois shirt (which was over 5 years old) from another company. My husband's shirt looked older than his friend's. I can't believe I spent all this money on these and they look absolutely worn out - no smooth chamois look, but fuzzy and rough looking. No more chamois shirts from Bean for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's are Better As a woman living in Northern California where it gets pretty cold in the winter, I want a thick, warm chamois shirt. The 9.5 oz version is still available elsewhere, but it is a rarity. This LLBean Men's Chamois is 7.5 oz, whereas the Women's Chamois is "lighter but still warm." Sorry, but the Men's just feels better. I bought the Turquoise Sea, because I seriously doubt it will be a male color favorite. It is a beautiful color but not available in the lighter weight women's version. Lucky for us women, we can wear the men's thicker, warmer versions, but most men won't buy the women's lighter weight style. If you want function over fashion, try this!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LLBean has changed size definition For many years I received LLBean chamois shirts as gifts. I wore them constantly in cool weather and most are now worn to the point where I only use them for yard work. I love them and decided to buy some new ones. All the ones in my closet whether from LLBean or someone else are size medium. Both of the medium shirts I just received are enormous and far too large for me. Somewhere along the line LLBean changed the specifications for what they call medium. If LLBean hadn't changed what they call a medium, I would have given them a 5 star but it is annoying to have to go through the hassle of exchanging by mail.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chamois Shirts I have been a buyer of Chamois Shirts for close to 30 years. Of late, the quality is just not the same. I have several chamois shirts in my closet and two of them are quite flawed. One shirt is frayed in many places and the other is beginning to fray and and the elbow has torn out. I have been a loyal ll bean customer for years and highly recommended LL Bean to anyone because they have always stood 100% behind the products regardless of the issue including wear. I would find it very difficult to recommend these shirts now because there appears to be some sort of deterioration in the product. These shirts always lasted for years previously.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly Disappointed I was let down when I received the Chamois shirt. Based on the reputation of both LL Bean as a company and this product in particular, I thought I was going to be receiving a thicker and more robust shirt. Whether I was misled or simply had false expectations is irrelevant. It is more suited for the office than the outdoors. What this shirt is: Very soft and comfortable Constructed of very, very thin and lightweight cotton What this shirt isn't: Warm Rugged I am a 5'11'' 160 lb. male and the size Medium was right on the money. I prefer to wear it as an overshirt rather than a shirt by itself. I just wish it was made of thicker cotton.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has Really Slipped I have bought these as my primary winter shirts for years. As of last season, I have noticed a substantial drop in the quality. With once a week use and washing for approximately 10 weeks of Washington cold - these used to go two seasons, often longer. Now with just 5 -6 launderings, the fuzz/nap that provides the warmth is almost gone. I launder these on gentle, and hang dry. My two & three year old shirts are now warmer and look better than last years'. These are an expensive shirt, I have always been happy to pay for the quality and durability I enjoyed. Not any more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing The L.L. Bean Chamois shirt was iconic for many folks living in the 50's and 60's wanting a versatile, long wearing and rugged shirt. I received a red one a couple of Christmases ago and realized that it was not what I expected. The trademark bias-cut pocket flaps were there, but the cloth was not napped like the material of earlier shirts. The front button placket soon wore through at the waist and a rounded door handle tore a hole in the elbow, Rugged and long-lasting no more, not to mention not as warm as earlier versions as the insulating effect of the napped material is no longer to be had. But, being the poor nostalgic creature I am, I wear the thing almost every cold day I can.
