Rated 3 out of 5 by Nelleigh from Too Small - Size has downgraded from prior version I bought this to go with the backpack for my son who is now in middle school and needed a more age-appropriate backpack and lunch bag that the L.L. Bean backpack and lunch box he had in grade school. That being said, I didn't bother checking the dimensions - I didn't think they would down-size their standard lunch box, but they did. I am used to being able to fit a drink bottle and three layers of Rubbermaid lunch block containers but this new box is so shallow that the square containers stuck out so that it couldn't be closed. Returning and looking for an alternative with another vendor. Sad because these boxes have held up well in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alyssa from Looks Great! I absolutely love the chalkboard peace pattern! I needed a new lunchbox for work and this is perfect. I was a little worried about the size, since it's made to be a children's lunchbox and many reviews agreed that it was small. That is definitely not the case for me. I packed my lunch in it right away. It held all I usually pack and could stand to hold a little more. Some of that space might be taken up when I put an ice pack in it tomorrow, but it's still a good-sized lunchbox. I only got it today, so I can't say anything yet about the durability, but given my LL Bean backpack is still going strong after 13 years, I'm sure it will hold up just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PickyMom13 from Still like new after 12 years! How's this for a product testimony? I bought the 2005 version of this lunch box for each of my twins when they started kindergarten. Now in high school, they no longer use them for lunches -- they use them as the world's best compact travel kit. These lunch bags have held shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, razors, etc. on trips to Italy, NYC, Scout camps, Montana, Los Angeles, etc. The perfect size. Even though they've been given "real" toilet kit bags over the past few years, they still prefer these! Think about it: waterproof interior, mesh pockets, compact size, plus they unzip completely and stay open when you need your stuff. That's a biggie. These "lunch boxes" are still in great shape!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MemphisYogi from Best and only lunchbox you’ll ever need This lunchbox, if you can keep up with it, is the only one you’ll ever need - ever! The size is perfect, and even fits nicely inside a backpack. We’ve used carabiners to attach it to the outside of our backpacks as well. We’ve also washed it in the washing machine on cold about 1x a week, and it has held up nicely! It’s just the right size for a full lunch, but not too bulky to be used for a snack pack when needed. The mesh ice pack compartment keeps the food separated from direct contact with the ice, yet still keeps food nice and chill for hours. I can think of absolutely no way this lunchbox has room for improvements, as it’s already the best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 4U2Know from Not As Pictured! Cheaply Made. I bought my daughter one of these lunch boxes (the older version) several years ago. It was awesome...with lots of room and sides that actually held themselves up. Unfortunately she lost it. This newer version does not hold a candle to the prior. The picture shown is a picture of the older lunch box. This newer one has sides that don't stand up and are not as deep/high. The inside cannot even hold a snack-sized baggie horizontally unless you bend the baggie to fit. It is cheaply made; certainly not what LLB has made its reputation on in the years past. Don't waste your $.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OreMom from Great Quality I purchase one of these lunch boxes for my daughter when she started daycare 4 years ago. I purchased another one for my second daughter at the start of the day care school year. Both are in great condition and other than it being a little dirty, the lunch box purchased 4 years ago is still in great shape. I wash them twice a year on the delicates cycle and air dry them. They come out great every time. My older daughter received a character lunch box for a gift and it made it only about 6 months of so before we had to throw it away and we went back to the LL Bean one. If you don't want to buy a lunch box every school year, I would recommend purchasing one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HelloKitty22 from durable, cleans easy I bought this lunchbox for my son when he was 4yrs.old when he was finishing preschool. He is now 8. He used it in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. He will now be doing summer camp with it all summer. It has held up great!!! Very easy to clean up and it has been through a lot. Doesn't look brand new, but still looks good. We will see what it looks like after all summer at day camp. I am sure it will still look good, but I plan on ordering another one for 3rd grade. We have the one with all the alligators. I will let my son pick out the next one, since he is getting to be a big kid. Love this lunchbox!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BusyDadof11 from will buy them for all kids bought these lunch bags with matching backpacks for my 4yo twin boys last summer (the blue design with the crocodiles and also monogrammed; the names were necessary b/c they always want the same of everything...).They truly love them and use them everyday. I will buy them definitely for all of the younger kids, even if they aren't that cheap, they'll at least last longer! As a work-at-home dad of 11 and with the 4yo as the oldest, believe me when I say I wouldn't have bought them if they wouldn't be easy to clean! And in my opinion, they are big enough, our's eat a sandwich, some small snacks and two small water bottles also fit into it!So great job LL Bean!!
