Rated 5 out of 5 by from Signature 1933 Chamois Slim fit Ok, now we are talking. I have about 10 chamois shirts from LL Bean, going back as far as the 50s. The early ones are soft and warm, but lately the newer ones from the 2000s are stiffer and thinner material. I thought I would give these signature series a try and I am happy to report they have gone back to making them soft again. I am only speaking about the Signature series (which is why I put it in the title). I loved this shirt the moment I put it on. Soft and the fit is perfect. I am 6'3 and weight 180 so the slim is perfect for me. The only suggestion is to make the cuff a little more snug, not much, just a little.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy to find this! I had a women's ivory chamois shirt that I wore for ten years. I wore it all the time -- skiing on Friday, over jammies on Saturday, as a jacket to church Sunday. Well, last year it got a hole in it. I ordered a few more and they weren't the same. Not as thick, not as soft, not the same fit. I thought I'd just be patient and wait for the winter catalog. No women's chamois shirts this year! A sales lady recommended that I try the signature men's slim fit. I'm forever grateful. The sleeves are a little long but I like a cuff anyhow. They are the same thickness, softness, and fit of my old favorite shirt. I bought two. Now if it just came in ivory...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too tight after washing. Shrunk. I am 5'10 and at 170 lbs have worn LL Bean medium shirts and sweaters. I have worn trim shirts and have a slight upper body build. I wear a 39 chest jacket with a 32 waist. So, typically a slim is great. I got the shirt, felt a little tight across the back and felt like it lacked give when moving.[ After two washing, it was worse. The shoulder were tight, the back had no give, and the tightness around the chest could not be tolerated. A large was ok, but even that was getting small. So, it is not really a trim fit.. it is a smaller fit and gets smaller over time. Maybe ok for the very slim and tall, but even then, it will shrink over time.[ Back to the regular fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent shirt for the money. I read the reviews before I bought this. The 1 star reviews were laughable and didn't speak to the quality or value of this shirt. The shirt is very well made and I found the fit perfect. The material is nicely finished and feels great against the skin, very soft and comfortable. Here in Texas this will get by as a winter jacket. For a $50 shirt it exceeds quality of most shirts in that price range. You won't be disappointed buying one if you want a great looking, comfortable warm shirt to throw on when the chilly days arrive. I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews and bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Details on fit Since there seems to be a range of comments about fit in other comments, I thought I'd share my experience with this shirt, which I got for Christmas. The fit on me is close to perfect. It's definitely a slim cut, especially by traditional LLBean standards. My neck size is 15 1/2 and sleeve length 16. My jacket size is a 40L. I have very low body fat and am pretty athletic. I got the medium tall and, as I said, the fit is great. I can imagine that someone with a very muscular physique might find this a little tight, but I was thrilled to get something that wasn't so voluminous. Apart from the fit, it's a great cold weather shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect This is my favorite shirt I own. I had one from a few years ago and wore it a TON. I finally wore through one of the elbows and took the opportunity to get another one. I bought two this time and couldn’t be happier. This is my go-to shirt All. The. Time. I love it so much, I got my dad one for Christmas last year. It’s just one of those pieces of clothing that I can’t be without. I wish there was some sort of alert system that would tell me if they were going to stop selling them. I’d buy five more. I wear a size small and feel that LL Bean shirts usually run big for my taste. I’m usually a medium in other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As in the days of od If you are looking for the type of LL Bean chamois available in the late 1970s or earlier, this is it. Yes it is a slimmer and slightly shorter cut than the old shirts (although the sleeve length is correct), but the fabric and buttons are like the old shirts. I am 5'10", 158 LBS and the medium is a great fit. The shirt I've had for a year now still looks perfect. I machine wash, but never use the dryer for this shirt. Line drying or drying on a hanger results in a wrinkle free shirt. I am not a fan of the modern LL Bean chamois shirts -- the fabric is too puffy, is napped inside and out, and pills over time like synthetic fleece. The buttons are too small, too. In the Signature shirts, the nap is on the outside and wears well without any pilling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like comfort food This is a great shirt. Warm. Soft. Solidly built. And most importantly, it's shaped like me. Which is to say: I do not have a beer gut, so I'm happy when my shirts don't automatically assume that I do. The only not great thing I can say about it is that it should be offered in more colors. Gray and black are safe, but I've already got enough shirts in those colors. Barley is another word for beige. Burnt Ochre is the only remotely interesting color amongst them. But my wife says I don't look good in orange. (Kind of a dark orange, really.) So what's a guy to do? How about dark blue? Light blue? Forest green? Purple? (Gasp!) I know LLBean has access to those pigments. Go on, give them a try!
