Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soft and nice but ripped withing days These sheets are nice cotton and a beautiful color, so I was so excited to get them (in the right size .. had mistakenly ordered wrong size earlier). The top flat sheet is fine but, unfortunately, the bottom fitted sheet ripped right in the center within a week of putting on the bed. I left it on for another couple of days, and lo and behold, another rip appeared, lower down on the same line. Clearly something to do with the weave. So disappointed. I love LLBean and order almost all my clothing and home goods from them, but these did not make the grade. Just received the flannel ones as a replacement. They got great reviews and seem to last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been won over I'm a long time customer of both LLB and its "Midwestern competitor"--LLB for outerwear, and the other for sheets and towels because there was much more choice. Given the recent precipitous decline in quality of the sheets I purchased elsewhere, I decided to give LLB a chance for my new set of sheets. And I'm glad I did. These are silky (for percale, which I vastly prefer to sateen) and tightly woven. And (because thread count isn't everything), I will add that they seem substantial enough to last a good long time. On this point, I would like to add that it would be good if sellers indicated the weight of the fabric as well as the thread count.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft and Smooth I love these sheets -- I don't write reviews until I've had them for quite a while, because I have had very expensive sheets (from other merchants) start to pill after multiple washings. I've had these sheets for a couple years and they just get softer -- they never pill. The only reason I have give them 4 stars, not 5, is that I've had the bottom fitted sheet tear, right in the middle of the sheet. This has happened twice after owning the sheets 1-2 years. I am used to sheets holding up a bit longer than that, but maybe that's old thinking. At any rate, I will still be buying a replacement from LL Bean -- they are the best sheets I've found.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why did LL Bean change the fabric, and fit ? I have purchased only LL Bean percale sheets for over 30 years, and I found the change that was made in the fabric not to my liking. Especially the fitted bottom. The sheet fit my mattress perfectly, with the deep pockets, but it would not stay in place. Actually there was enough sheet to tuck along the sides of the mattress as well, and that didn't even help. I like my bottom sheet to stay smooth and have a relatively tight fit, but when we woke up in the morning the sheet was wrinkled and pulled out from the sides and elastic pocket. Returned the set, and will search for another company to purchase my sheets from.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worn Through in Less than a Year I loved these sheets. They were soft and cozy and washed well. Until last week, about 11 mos after we had bought them. I went to put the fitted sheet on our queen sized mattress, and it ripped. I was just making the bed. And I was straightening out the fitted sheet, and it ripped in the middle where we sleep - not on a seam or an edge. It was worn ... After less than a year. As much as I enjoyed these sheets for less than a year, I woulnd't recomment them to anyone unless they want to buy new sheets in less than a year ... will not purchase again, and it makes it hard to consider buying linens from LLBean again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these sheets! After a long time sleeping on Big Box sheets and with three fitted sheets tearing in I think 4 months it was obvious that we needed some better quality sheets. I ordered the percale fitted sheets kind on a whim; but could not be more pleased. These wash well and fit perfectly. They have are a nice weight and so smooth! They do have a crisp hand. I've noticed some folks in the comments are bothered by that, but they do soften quite a bit with washing. They will always have a different feel than sateen weave. Honestly that's one think I like. Cooler in the summer, and doesn't combine with my flannel pajamas to turn into velcro in the winter. So Win/ Win!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from R.I.P. (Ripped Fitted Sheet) See my photos. Yes, like other reviewers, the fitted sheet RIPPED and TORE in several spots just from NORMAL USE. This is with normal use over 2 years time, having NO PETS in the house, and periodic washing 2-3 times a month with warm water and normal dryer use with the other sheets and pillow cases from LL Bean percale material. Another thing to note, the type of cotton weave holds oils more. It doesn't wash out normal body oils over time. For 2 years worth of time of normal use, the fitted sheet had an oily waxy paper feel, even though I washed the sheets with clear seventh generation liquid detergent. DO NOT BUY!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripped I bought two sets of these sheets around a year and a half ago. These sheets pop up in a lot of reviews for, "best sheets". This weekend the fitted sheet tore open something awful. I got into bed and I just heard it rip. I need to get new sheets now so I started reading the reviews and I'll be darned if this sheet set isn't still listed at the top of some reviews. I followed the link to the sheets thinking I was just too hard on my sheets and maybe I should give them another try but first I read some reviews. Lo and behold others claimed of ripped sheets also and that was it for me. Now I'm mad and won't ever purchase LL Bean sheets again.
