280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Sheet, Flat is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 282.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be? I have bought a new set of percale sheets every year; this year I went crazy and bought cream instead of plain white. I love these sheets because they are a very nice combed cotton -- not the sateen-y sheets that are everywhere, which can have very high thread count, but very low quality thread. So I was delighted to locate these at LL Bean. However -- the cream ones from this year do not have the same feel to them, not sure how to describe the difference. Slightly more "sateen-y"? I did check the stitching along the side, just as a quality-control, and the stitching is about 50% fewer stitches per inch, which is a quantifiable difference.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I had some high hopes for these sheets because I saw some great reviews on other websites for it, but I must say that they do not live up to the hype. I bought the white set but they seem cheap - my face gets irritated when I lay my head on the sheets (and same with the pillows). I was hoping the scratchy and rough feeling would subside after a few washings, but it still hasn't softened up and I have to use a different pillow to protect my face instead. The sheets also do not fit snug on my king mattress, so it just looks messy and very see-through as other customers have mentioned. This was my first purchase with LL Bean and I don't think I'll be back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing This has been the only time I've ever purchased anything from LLB that I've been dissatisfied with. When the top sheet "ripped" apart at the top hem for about 5 or 6 inches a few months ago, I thought probably it was due to too much tugging or pulling. Although I loved the pattern, I decided to buy another solid colored sheet that would "go" with the bottom sheet, which I did. However, just last weekend I discovered that the bottom sheet had worn through about a 6" long area near the bottom of the sheet. It hadn't ripped, it was just worn through. I received the replacement bottom sheet this week and am hopeful that this set will last longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable LOVE EM..... I have purchased 15 sets in 8 years and true, not all of them were perfect. For many years (2008-2012) the pillowcases did not lie flat, the ends were wrinkled, but then LL Bean corrected that and now all the pillowcases ends lie flat. On a couple of the 15 sets the seams split open on the fitted sheets but I can sew that up and it was only on 2 sheets. Other reviewers did not think they were soft enough but those people should probably buy sateen sheets. I do like that these percale are "crisp". Overall, I hope the quality continues. I'd like to continue to purchase these sheets for the rest of my LIFE because I am too busy to research another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sheets Received a complete set about a week ago. Washed them before using. Thoroughly pleased. Nice crisp feel, flat sheet is long enough for very generous fold over the blanket and do not wrinkle excessively. The fitted sheet is very generous and although I would like it to fit more snuggly, I do realize there are so many depths of mattresses. Mfr has to please all tastes. Have been stung a few times buying sheet sets from discount stores and decided to go for these sheets. More pricy that I would like but satisfied so far. If they do not measure up in the long run am hoping that Bean will replace.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as before These sheets are not the same sheets that we have ordered and enjoyed for years. The Web site still states that the fabric is cotton percale, but the fabric has been changed in some way. It feels slick, as if there is some type of slippery finish on the fabric. Ironing no longer results in the crisp finish that we enjoyed in the past. Also, the front and back of the hemstitched top of the flat sheet are misaligned. This means the top edge has a bubble that can't be straightened or ironed out. After years of being thrilled with these sheets, we are disappointed. Please let us know if LL Bean has other sheets that retain the texture and finish of the original LL Bean percale sheets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Huge Surprise Ok. 280 thread count is far below anything I'd been led to believe was an acceptable sheeting material. Thanks to LL Bean, I've been given a serving in humble pie! Somewhere online I'd read that these were some of the best percale sheets available and they truly are. They need a few washings to get rid of that 'fresh out of the package' feel but then... BOY, OH BOY! They become EXACTLY what you dream percale sheets will be. They don't shrink either! They may be the perfect percale. A note on sizing: the fitted sheet fits a very deep mattress (mine is 16") but you may want to consider a size up for your top sheet or else it may not have enough material to tuck under on the sides.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crying all day long WHY WHY WHY DID LLBEAN CHANGE the quality of these sheets! My old percale flat sheet from Bean finally gave out after years of service. I bought it years ago after the long search for the percale sheets with the crisp snap. Talk about cool comfort, this was it. I treasured these sheets knowing that no one else had anything nearly like them. Needing replacements I of course went to Bean, and despite the new review comments bought my new sheets. What a huge disappointment!, These have a slinky silky clingy feel that absolutely does not promote cool and comfortable sleep. If there is any way Bean could go back to the old quality it sure would be great. They had the market captured. Why did they change!
