Men's Ultralight Boots, Mid Waterproof Insulated is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfectly designed I just received these boots and have to say they are one of the best looking boots on the market. I ordered a full size up in the maximum width and tried them on with a heavy sock. Glad I did. The length was great but even the wide width seems a bit narrow. My only concern is that the nylon loops that the laces go through are really difficult to adjust the laces vs traditional eyelets. But I was aware of that issue before I ordered. Wish the loop in the back were a bit larger too which would make it much easier to pull the boots up. Overall, I’m sure these boots will serve me well once I break them in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lacing Nightmare. I received these from my wife for Christmas. The sole grips are great in the ice and snow of Idaho. They are fairly comfortable but are ridiculous to put on. The lacing is badly designed. No eyelets except for top. There are narrow loops that the lace is fed through that take an incredible amount of pulling and shoving in order to loosen and tighten the boots up. I ran to the outdoor store to get other thinner laces. They don't work well either. These things really need a redesign effort. Didn't anybody try these on at LL.Bean?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment 10Wide was far too narrow = unwearable ; Too much friction on the lace loops = no quick lacing ; sole depicted as flexible is actually very stiff; an attractive design gone wrong ....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First time making shoes? Two things, first one right out of the box. First, the shoelace snagged on the only metal eyelet on the boot. This is d/t a manufacturing fault. All eyelets are supposed to be smooth so they do not catch on the laces, pretty basic stuff. Normally this wouldnt damage the laces too much but the laces on this specific boot have a characteristic where if you snag a tiny string like this, the whole lace started to come undone around the pulled string. After a few months of wearing them the glue holding the soft soles yo the bottom of the hard sole section has started to come apart. Honestly just really poor craftsmanship and not worth a penny over 35 bucks. Never buying ll bean again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Casual Snow Boot I read many of the reviews before I bought these. I noticed a couple of things. First, the size issue reviews were mostly people who wear wide (size EE) size. This is the same with many types and makes of footwear unfortunately for those of you who wear this size. If you wear a Medium/Regular size, they should fit just fine. The second review issue I noticed is people wearing them for the wrong purpose. This is somewhat on the item title description, or lack of. (LLBean Staff take notice). This is a Casual Winter Snow Boot. This is NOT a winter work boot or hiking type boot or any other use that has heavy wear and tear. This is a casual, winter snow boot for things like snow removal around the house, casual around town wear, outdoor winter festivals and winter spectator activities, etc. I have just a couple minor things that, fortunately do not detract from my overall opinion. I do agree with many that the lacing system needs more thought. But, I’ve dealt with worse with military cold weather gear in the Army in the 80’s. Unfortunately you can’t just pull the laces and tighten them. You just need to take an extra minute and undo or tighten one level at a time. Also, the pull loop on the back is a little tight to get your finger into because of a bad design. It needs to be like the pull loops on their other boots. The only other thing is the insoles could be more supportive in the arch. I’ll probably replace those. Overall though, a very good casual winter snow boot. Nice looks, cozy and comfortable. I look forward to many winters of use from them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too narrow, too hard to lace I should have paid more attention to reviews. These really are very narrow boots and the laces too hard to pull. I wear a medium and can barely get my foot in these despite ordering a half size up. Even if they had fit, I can't live with the laces. I have had snow boots with laces designed like this before. These are not like that. The leather loops are much too tight making the laces very difficult to tighten and loosen. Too bad these weren't better executed because they are exactly what I was looking for in lightweight, waterproof boot. I would try another size if the laces worked. But the laces spoil that so they are going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine, lightweight boots; laces are poorly designed So far I really like these boots. I gave them four stars rather than five because of the laces. The materials used in the eyelets and the laces have too much friction, and the laces are difficult to adjust. Smoother eyelet material would alleviate this problem. Fit is a little tight, as the other reviews have stated, but I ordered my regular shoe size, and they fit fine with socks that are not too thick. I bought them for spring mushrooming, and after several outings I'm very pleased. They're the lightest boots I've ever owned! The lining and footbed are soft and comfortable on steep terrain. I recommend them, but the laces will take some getting used to.
