    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely fitted I wasn't sure which size might fit me in this layering tank, so I ordered both L and XL (I'm 5'6", 165, fairly small busted) and the L fits perfectly. I intend to wear these under sweaters and shirts and not by themselves, most likely. The fabric is quite thin, the length low hip, so it can be scrunched if desired, and my bra straps are covered. Wish there were more colors, but maybe in the spring/summer there will be. I'm building up my stash of basics after losing weight, so I need these -- I also run cooler than I used to so I need an additional layer more often than before. These seem high quality and the light gray heather is very comfortable. Great value on sale!

I have many tanks from LL Bean (and other stores) which I wear alone or to layer, year around, and these are BY FAR THE BEST I OWN! Neckline is high enough to conceal cleavage, but not so high it can’t be worn with a variety of necklines. It is sturdy material but not so thick as to be bulky and has great stretch and is long enough that I don’t get cold from it riding up. I have 3 of these and plan to get some more but I see white is now sold out. I wish I had gotten more than just one. Please, please never discontinue!!! Please keep them EXACTLY the same!

I suppose I have become one of those old people who complain that "things just aren't made the way they used to be" and this tank is no exception. I bought the same item a number of years ago and I loved the fit, the feel and best yet, I still have the tank top, though it has become a work shirt due to fading and stains. I decided to purchase 3 of the same tops and was excited to have them for years to come. However, the fabric is noticeably thinner and less durable. I will be lucky if the shirts last a year. They look good and fit fine. Does any company sell sturdy/durable products anymore?

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from FITS LIKE A LONG CAMISOLE I have purchased bean tees for years and thought this would fit the same, but it's skin tight, stretchy, soft and waaaayyy too long and I'm 5'9". It hits me at the top of my thighs so I cannot wear it under sweaters or jeans jackets and being tight, it shows any zipper or button on the slacks/shorts and too long to tuck in which I don't ever do anyway. I didn't understand the fit was different when I bought it so gave a fair review rating. The quality is always consistently good at bean. Just be aware this fit is like a long camisole.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy and poorly cut I don't know what template the sewers are cutting against, but the fit of this tank top was just weird. Instead of being trim and body skimming, the fit is wide and boxy across the bust with giant, baggy arm holes and loose shoulder straps, such that they slip off, and my shoulders are not sloped. I had ordered my normal size and one size down, but I returned both. If you look closely at the model, you can see the extra fabric hidden under her armpit. Even more strange, the fit across the waist and hips was snug, and my waist is much smaller than my hips and bust (figure 8). It's as if this top is cut like an upside down triangle. Fabric is too lightweight to be an all-season layer.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color not what I expected I have a lot of these tanks from years ago, in varying colors, and I wear them very often (mostly for layering and sometimes alone). Since they closed the store near me, I had to rely on the picture in catalog/website. I ordered the indigo color but when it arrived the indigo looked a little more faded than in the picture; I returned it since it was not the color I needed to match something. The reason I took off one star is that the fabric felt different from the LLBean tanks I have from the past, and I like the older ones better. Personal preference maybe. The fit was fine for me. I am between large and XL but usually order XL in Bean tops because I prefer a looser fit.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Order a larger size than usual I wear LL Bean T-shirts all the time, so when I decided to get a tank top, I automatically ordered the same size I use for shirts and sweaters--the sizing is remarkably consistent. However, the tank is much smaller, tighter around the chest. I estimate 2 sizes too small. The idea that it is for "layering" should be considered when ordering. Apparently it is meant to be tight to fit under another layer. The quality was the same in terms of fabric and workmanship, but I should have ordered a larger size because this one is too small to comfortably wear.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always good, always versatile I have these and similar tanks in various colors. They are true to size, comfortable, wash well, last long. I use them year round. In the cold weather I use them as a base layer for a knit longsleeve shirt and sweater, whatever keeps me warm. (No bra needed, in my case at least!) In warm weather I wear them under a lightweight button-down shirt and I am good to go! They can be worn alone as they are fairly substantial in weight and the armpits are not too loose, but a lot depends on the shirt color and the pointiness of your nipples. AND the attractiveness of your upper arms!!! AND the situation - if you're out gardening or cutting down trees, who cares?! They are comfy!
